Unlock Pattern

If I do the incorrect pattern enough times, will it lock me out of my Droid for an extended time period? How long? How many tries do I get? The reason I ask is because, the Droid (ANNOYINGLY) suffers from a slight lag when brought out of sleep mode. Basically EVERY TIME I try to wake it and quickly enter my pattern, I will be halfway through it and it will hit a lag spike I guess and stops reading that I am touching it, and the first half of the pattern I was entering will be counted as an incorrect pattern, and as I continue to finish the pattern, the second half will be counted as an incorrect pattern. Basically, I use up 2 tries, and I would hate for this to happen, and then I go to enter the actual pattern and I just make a mistake, and use my last try up. So do you get only 3 tries?

I forget how many attempts you get at it, but I do know that it is BAD NEWS when it happens. You're supposed to be able to just enter your Gmail username and password, but from what I understand that does NOT work. Basically, you have to go back to Verizon and they have to reset your phone. Not good!

I highly recommend not using that pattern lock until the bug is fixed. I don't use a pattern lock, but I pretty sure there are apps on the Market that you can use to accomplish this.

Sorry for the bad news, but it's better to know now, than find out later.

Can anyone give me an example of the best app that I can use to accomplish this? I definitely need to be able to lock my phone, I can't imagine if somebody got ahold of it,,

Lots of people have mentioned 'Curvefish PatternLock OnOff'. I can't say either way ... I've never tried it.

I locked myself out three times and each time I was able to get back in with my Gmail account info.

ohh.. i have that and thas just a widget on your home screen so you can click it and disable/enable pattern lock. but thanks anyways.. ill look and c if I can find one, preferably an app that lets me use a number as a code... Just wondering, does any1 experience the same problem as me? Where they try to enter the lock code quickly and the Droid lags up and messes it up?

Then perhaps that bug got fixed with the 2.0.1 update. I don't recall. I just know there were some ticked off people on this forum when they found out they had to go to Verizon and get their phone wiped.

It happens to me all of the time... i will start my pattern and not lift off my finger , but be in the middle and get the double vibrate... its actually really annoying, but i have to lock it just like you. i haven't gone so far as to i had to enter in google information though, actually kinda afraid too...haha, but after 5 wrong ones you have to wait 30 seconds i know that

I use quick settings. Its an app that launches a dialog box. Inside that box, one can customize what things they want. Like volume, wifi and gps toggles and one option is lockscreen. That's how I do it.
