Did anyone try to unlock this phone? I found a article shows unlock at&t phone for free. All you need to do is call the customer service. and follow the steps.
But I am a little lost. Here is the article,

Att will give you the unlock code but i believe that phone has to be out for a certain number of months before they will do it.

Yeah. AT&T will give the unlock code, upon request, for any of their phones except the iphone. As long as you meet certain requirements and the phone is not within the exclusivity period. I believe, for the inspire, that ends in August. So, they will not give out the unlock code for this phone until sometime in August.

If you follow the root/ s-off method for the phone you unlock it in the process. The S-Off is the sim unlock.
