Is there any other way to wake up the D3 without using the power button or opening the keyboard and then to unlock it?

Not sure if this is what your asking for, but you can disable the lockscreen with an app from the market.
That way you just hit the power button, and it's unlocked.

No I guess I was hoping there was another way to "wake" up the phone like shaking it to save using my power button.

Have you tried "Just Shake" from the market? That looks like it should do what you want. There are a few other similar apps too.

Thank you I tried that app but it seems to be for music and answering the phone, not to wake up the screen.

Tried that one too - They all have too many options - all I want it to do is turn on the screen after it's gone to sleep or turn off.

It seems like such as simple task, but there doesn't seem to be an APP designed just to wake up the D3. We can turn OFF the screen, but not back on unless there is something else going on at the time (music or phone call.)

Perhaps you should contact the developer for Just Shake and see if he can add "just wake up" as an option.

I never thought of it before, but I would also like to "wake up" my D3 with just a shake.

I have no lock on my phone, and sliding the keyboard wakes the phone up. Don't know if that's more cumbersome than what you want, but it works. You only have to slide it just far enough for the four lights to come on at the bottom of the screen.
