Unlocked Bootloader Mode?

Has anyone tried this? from what i keep reading it lets up use different roms.
its in the android developer settings.

if we can actually boot to bootloader to use fastboot commands atm i havent found a way. im looking at bootloader and sbl secondary bootloader see if i can find a way to allow fastboot
