Help Unlocked Galaxy Note - Carrier Compatability

Best I've gotten in New Haven, CT is 4.3 Mbps but it depends on the quality of the signal.
While this is much below the theoretical upper limit for 4G type networks (4G - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) it is pretty good for real world speeds (see here: 4G Wireless Speed Tests: Which Is Really the Fastest? | PCWorld).

The unlocked international version of the Note will be limited to ATT's HSPA+ version of 4G, NOT compatible with the LTE version of 4G they are rolling out now. 4-6M downloads is typical of hspa+ and is the best you will get with the unlocked international ver on ATT.

Quick Newbie question:

I live in NYC and have the iPhone 4S, I think it's time to switch it up and i wanna go with the Galaxy Note... Im gonna have to pay full retail for the Note and wanted opinions if I should buy one unlocked or just wait till ATT releases the device. I think we all know AT&Ts "comming weeks" could mean March or April.

I know if I buy it unlocked I'll only be able to use the HSPCA+ network and not the LTE, this is not a big deal to me. Just wanna make sure I'll be able to have full capability with an unlocked Note with AT&T (MSM, texts, voice and Internet)

Any insight or corrections would be much appreciated :-)

Your concerns have been addressed ad nauseum, but the answers are, "yes"...even if you have the "MediaNet" plan.

i have the unlocked version. It took 3 different trips to ATT wireless stores
to find someone who copied the entire APN from his phone so my unlocked Galaxy Note (purchased from Australia) would work on HSPA and HSPA+. It is a wonderful device for media. I have the Verizon Galaxy Note and truthfully cannot decide which i like best.

The sound and camera quality are better on the Note. Its big so i use it for media (books, FM radio, podcasts). Also the call quality is extraordinary. Love the big print on the texts. haven't seen a good use for the S-Pen stylus yet but nice to consider.

The only thing is that the Note does NOT FIT SNUGLY in the hand so forget that. It is very thin (same as I-Phone) so no problem in suit jacket or purse.

Can someone please answer this: I currently have a iPhone 4 and I'm sick of the apple restrictions. I have been doing a lot of reading and have decided the note is for me. I have AT&T and I work in Brazil. For 6 months I'm in Brazil and 6 months I'm in the states. An unlocked phone would save me money. My wife has a Galaxy S II and I love it. Hers is branded and I want to purchase the international note but there is just one thing holding me up. Is it just as simple as removing my sim card from my IPhone and putting it in the Note? If I could get the answer to that I would buy the note today. Also where is the best/cheapest place to buy the note?
