Root Unlocked, now no google mail or marketplace?!

Today I had my desire rooted, (that sounds filthy now I read it back?), and I'm not sure its really been done correctly...

I can make phone calls on the sim, (vodafone), and was also able to use the internet, so the data is working too.

But the odd thing is that google email has gone, (icon broken, not available to run from all apps?), and marketplace is not working so I can't redownload it...

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

Its a UK gmail account if that makes a difference...

All clues very gratefully received.

Thanks for the suggestion - however I think Ionly nbeed to re-initialise the link to my google email account, if I can work out how to do that...

Do you still have the Market app? The Google stuff on the phone needs to be .zipped separately with some rom's. You'll need to check.

Get it here gapps. Flash it in exactly the same way as a rom.

right, go to settings>about phone> software information and provide us with all the info on there.

do you have a superuser app in your appdrawer

There's nothing unusual round London in places that will unlock a phone, (I may have my unlocked and rooted mixed up here). This is NOT the vodaphone shop where I bought it if that's what you are thinking!

No superusers apps on the phone.
Marketplace is still there but when I start it up nothing happens.

Thanks very much for the help. Thinking on my own, I looked at the accounts & synch screen - it has both gmail and googlemail mail ids of mine in there, could it help to re-establish the link to my google email account? And how would I do this?

(I think I remember it got messed up briefly before with a change between gmail and googlemail).

i would do a factory reset
your phone is not rooted
hes unlocked it, if hes unlocked it via software then he may have broken it as you can just order keys online for about

OK, I think I have it working now - thanks to all for suggestions.

It seems to come down to it having got confused about which google mail ID it should be tied to. Turning the two it remembered off and on, resynching them, and just to polish off, stop and start the phoine seems to have everything going.
