Root Unlocked via HTCDev wth s-on, want to unroot

I unlocked the bootloader via HTC Dev (only way I was able to get it done) and installed an unofficial CM9 ROM. My friend's Thunderbolt broke so I offered her my INC, but she wants it unrooted. I have been working for HOURS tonight trying to do it but I can't get it to work. My HBOOT screen says:

**UNLOCKED**
Incredible xd ship s-on
hboot 1.02.0000
microp-0417
touch panel-atmelc03_ac
radio - 2.15.00.07.28

I've tried placing the PB31IMG file on the SD card, but it doesn't work.
I've tried using Unrevoked to reinstate S-Off (I don't know how it went from s-off to s-on because I know that it was s-off to begin with).
I've tried using ADB to flash recovery, etc.

I'm at a total loss. Help!

in fastboot enter:
fastboot oem lock

you can then run a PB31IMG for your current main version or newer. if your were on the newest software a PB31IMG wont exist. id suggest installing a stock rom,or restoring a stock backup.

you can pull a stock recovery out of the newest GB PB31IMG,and install it in place of your current custom recovery, using the same process.

you can use root explorer or an equivalent root file manager to delete the super user app from system/app and the binary from system/bin or system/xbin

do a factory reset, and you should be good to go.

the better option,IMO,would be to use the stickied guide to downgrade to froyo and achieve s-off. that way,any ruu you wan to run will work, and the phone will OTA to current.

give it to her in a stock,unrooted,s-off state. the s-off wont affect normal phone operation, and make it much easier/better for anyone that may want to reroot in the future. :)
