Root Unlocked?

I'm looking to move from the [insert curse word] locked Droid X to the Incredible 2. Does this phone have an unlocked bootloader?

The linux root worked like a dream... Head over to distrowatch.com and pick one of the top distros (Usually Ubuntu or Fedora) burn and boot into the live environment. If you can put it on and boot from a thumbdrive then the speeds are much much better. There are very very good root and manual CWM push instructions over at the nerd depot aka xda

I will not give my usual use google lecture... This is the quick

Goto Homepage | Ubuntu download 32/64 bit iso...
Burn it to a CD or download Universal Usb Installer(google this) ...
Boot from your creation...
Launch the web-brower
Android & Windows Phone: Tablets, Apps, & ROMs @ xda-developers Goto Forums -> VZW Inc 2 -. And Dev -> Find Alpha Rev X posts should be near the top
Download the alpha rev utility into downloads folder copy it to the home folder using file manager
On the Android Dev section find the thread from nGuntherx(sp) on the use of this

All the info is there except you need to first download the Android Sdk for linux google search this and download the appropriate version 32/64 bit follow the copy and paste instructions from Gunther and jCase
All instructions for a Ubuntu SDK installation and the use of ADB can be found with google

EDIT
Honestly if this is too much to do then you probably should not be rooting your phone and flashing it... Not trying to be a jerk but its not hard to use google and it isnt a secret that the hardcore hackers are at xda

Ha. Thanks for the laugh this morning. :)

What type of battery life difference are you noticing with root?

Understood. I'm actually compiling info for when I'm ready to root, not planning on doing it today.

Actually, it's also not hard to link to something you mention, and not a secret that doing so increases the likelihood that people will be able to find it on Google later.

Seriously, I'm a week into Android here, and it actually kind of was a secret to me that the hardcore hackers are at XDA or that there even was an XDA. Now it's not.

Sorry to have bothered you with asking for a URL copy/paste. My bad.

Not only that: Rooting is one thing, replacing the ROM is another.
In my experience with Eris, it take quite a while for the XDA gurus, with a lot of feedback from users, to debug a ROM. So unless you are an adventurous type, I would wait a while so the ROM can mature before installing it.

Like I said, I now realize that asking someone to copy and paste the link to a document they mentioned as an easy way for me to find that information was entirely outrageous, and that everyone should start at square-one running Google searches rather than asking more experienced users to point them in the right direction. Apologies to all involved.
