Help Unlocking and De-bloatwaring

So I'm thinking of buying my S II from Bell for about $707 its on newegg for around $750, this one if factory unlocked. Is it worth getting the locked Bell version, then unlocking it myself? Will I be able to install a clean rom on it and remove any and all traces of Bell of the phone? (i.e. their boot animation, etc) also if I get the Bell version will I be able to install roms made for the generic S II rather than the version that Bell carries? Thanks in advance.

You can remove the carrier branded software and flash generic software no problem. You can also remove network lock but you have to be rooted. I have not tried the software myself but I have read it works well:

You can do it manually when rooted or flash a generic rom and it will remove carrier bloatware.

I want to do that as well, but I'm a little nervous until I see more Bell customers unlock their S2's.
