Hi, I'm in Poland and I received here my DROID3 from Amazon Wireless paying full retail price... but it's locked so I can't use my polish operetor SIM card... can anyone help me to contact Verizon to get unlock code??

I've tried to get it from them on my own but the problem is my 'english' or maybe they didn't want to help me at all... they said I have to get an account at Verizon and I have to take other services so i wil be able to get unlock code...

Guys... please help me... :-( I just want to use my Droid3...

Regards,
MIKEN

you said you paid full retail price, do you currently have an account with verizon? or are you trying to use the droid 3 with a different carrier?

you may only be able to use the droid 3 with verizon, that is how it is in the U.S. - even if you unlock the sim card it won't work with other carriers. i have no idea how it works in poland though.

usually with a global phone on VZW before they give you an unlock code you have to have been a paying customer for 3 months i think it is.

you may want to look at sending your D3 back where you got it.

Besides getting the code directly from Verizon (which you have to be a Verizon customer for at least six months in good standing to do, so it's doubtful that anyone can call and get a code for you since it's tied to one's account), the only other options is to find an online vendor who sells the codes to unlock the phone. Since the Droid 3 is so new, there may not be many vendors who have the codes yet. Additionally, with the Droid 2 Global and the Droid Pro, many of the codes that vendors received did not work, which made it difficult for many people to unlock those phones away from Verizon. The Droid 3 may or may not end up in a similar situation.

It looks like there are two reputable vendors selling Droid 3 unlock codes on eBay for $29.99. I can't vouch for them or promise that they will work, but maybe it's worth a try before sending your phone back:

★UNLOCK★ BY CODE VERIZON MOTOROLA ★DROID 3★ XT862★

Ok thank you for your help! :-)

But, do You really think it would be the problem if someone that unlocked his DROID3 once, will ask for unlocking another phone bought at standard retail price?? I don't think it's forbidden to have 2 the same smartphones... :-)

However... i understand that it can be a little bit problematic for You.

There are two major problems with someone else calling Verizon and attempting to get the unlock code for your phone:

1) The unlock code is specific to your phone, and since you have your phone, the person calling will not have your phone activated on their line. Verizon may not give out a code for a phone that is not (or has not been) activated on the account of the person calling. If you're a Verizon customer that meets the qualifications, they'll give you a code for your phone, but I don't know that they'll give you the code for a phone that isn't yours in their system.

2) Verizon will only give out one unlock code to a customer each year. So if someone was able to get your code, they would be unable to get one themselves for a year. This would probably make many people unwilling to try in case they might want to unlock a phone for themselves.

Your best bet really is to try one of those unlock code vendors from eBay. You've already bought the phone at full retail and had it shipped internationally, so springing for another $30 should be well worth it. They'll email you the code, so it's not like you'll have to wait for it to be mailed to you. Normally those things come through within an hour of the seller receiving payment (I've purchased codes before in the past).

I think you may be right 'bsweetness' that's why I already bought the code... however they say that according to ebay regulations they can only send it by post mail... and they can't give it through the internet... Is sounds like a joke but it's true :)

I hope that maybe they will give it to me... just because i'm not in the USA and it will be cheaper to send it by e-mail... ;)

They have to say that on the listing in order to conform to the rules that eBay has. But in actuality, each time I've used a similar service through eBay, they email them to you. So, you should receive the code in an email sometime in the next few hours. Good luck!
