Root Unlocking help

Hi.

I recently purchased a Desire S from cash converters online. I put my sim in the phone (Tesco mobile) and the phone will not receive a signal. As far as I knew O2 and Tesco used the same network but when I try and select O2 from the provider list it says "Your SIM card does not allow connection to this network."

There is no option for Tesco there, only O2, 3, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone.

I purchased an unlock code for

As far as I know, Tesco do use o2 network. Try doing a factory reset and see if it shows up in the provider list. I have seen it listed myself as I am on o2 but usually when setting up a new phone. Just checked the list of available ones and cannot see it now. As for the unlock code, never used one but I imagine it's entered through the phone dialling keypad.

Thanks.

I have been in touch with the shop I bought it from and their more than happy to take it back but they said they tested the phone on O2 network in store and it was fine.

It'd be a shame to send it back as it was an absolute bargain.

Just wondering if there is a way to force the unlock menu to enter the code?

Edit:- I tried a working O2 SIM and i still have the same problem. Hardware issue? Or blocked for some reason?
