Help Unlocking Samsung Galaxy S II

Hey guys, looking for a bit of advice regarding my recently purchased Samsung Galaxy S II. It was an Orange upgrade from an old contract that I don't use anymore, and therefore I need to unlock the phone for any network (Or even just T-Mobile UK). Could anyone suggest the cheapest way to do this?

I realise you have helped me majorly already today, but I was wondering if there is an alternative to this app? I just ran it and it came back saying it couldn't find the code.

Did you root the phone?

Yeh mate I rooted the phone before I tried it. Well I think I did, I've got superuser access etc. Is there another way?

There's the old-fashioned way.... pull the nv_data.bin file from /efs, open it with a hex editor and analyse the relevant bits to decipher the code. There's a thread about the unlock app in the GS2 Development forum at XDA that contains a guide to the procedure iirc.

That sounds majorly beyond me, should it only be tried by really technical minded people or worth giving a bash?

Well, I managed to do it.

The topic I mentioned has illustrations of what to look for, so it's just a matter of taking the time. It's worth it if you need the handset unlocked.
