Root Unlocking the bootloader, custom recovery, kernels, etc

1. Download RebootMenu from Google Play: http://goo.gl/Xc7mHH
2. Within the app, click "Reboot Bootloader"
Once you do that, the device will restart at the boot logo and the LED will be red/orange: you are now in the bootloader.
3. Connect your device to your computer and go to Android SDK's platform-tools in CMD or Terminal and type: fastboot devices. This is to confirm that the device is recognized
4. If it is then type: fastboot oem unlock
5. Type : fastboot reboot

That should be it

Has anyone tried this? I just had to buy this junk pile of metal. I have the receipt and I aint scared to brick this thing.

I haven't tried this myself. I'm tempted but I can't risk bricking this phone. Anyone out there willing to try it?

If anyone can point me towards working adb drivers for 32-bit windows I'd be happy to try.

So far doing
Code:
reboot bootloader
From terminal emulator simply reboots the phone

im trying this right now im looking to renovate the mobile industry, im starting a test project ill let you know how it goes

You have to use Reboot Menu in order to get to bootloader
By the way, what carrier do you have it on.

I know, but Towelroot actually allowed for my RAZR M to be bootloader unlocked (considering it had been locked for a year). The RAZR M runs on a Snapdragon as well, like the Hydro.

Yes, but it seems we can't even access the bootloader on this device.

Care to provide a link showing how towel root is responsible for unlocking/allowing you're device's bootloader to be unlocked? :)

Afikt it only provides root. You would need an additional exploit/tool to actually unlock the bootloader (as well as some sort of access to the bootloader itself)

I made a backup of the stock ROM using a free app in the google play store called ROM manager by clockwork mods. I was also able to boot it into recovery mode using this app. I had to press the power & volume down key to boot the ROM. Maybe somebody can use this info if you didn't already know. I'm on the first round Kyocera Hydro 4.0.4 from cricKet. I didn't do this using a PC & I rooted my phone with poot. The ROM is still on my SD card.

DO THIS AT YOU'RE OWN RISK. I'm not responsible if you brake you're phone!

I haven't tried using the bootloader setting yet. I'm too scared to do that, but maybe somebody with a bigger pair than mine will try it. Anyway just wanted you all to know because it would seem that this app works on my phone for boot in recovery.

You can boot into fastboot by
1. pull battery out
2. Then plug in charger (should see the red light blink)
3. Put battery back in
4. Then quickly press and hold power then hold volume + then hold volume -, and then release the power button while still holding both volume buttons.

But they all have to be about 1 second apart, then you should see a panguin in the middle of screen.

The timing has to be just rjght, so dont be afraid to try it a few times.
