Unlocking the Verizon galaxy nexus sim?

Hey guys i was thinking of buying the verizon galaxy nexus but i was wondering if you would be able to unlock the sim with a code by calling verizon so I can use it overseas and maybe on other networks in the US? tHanks

The SIM in the Nexus (as with all current 4G Verizon Devices) is used for the LTE network and activations, etc. As such, it's not a global SIM or a SIM that other carriers would use. Unfortunately for your intentions, it just wouldn't work. You can still use it overseas in certain countries, but the list would be rather small.

The nexus is not a global phone but as far as unlocking phones in general, vzw has always had the policy of ..... they will unlock the global sim card as long as you have had the phone for 3 months with no outstanding bills. The 3 month rule is not set in stone so if you are leaving soon, they might still unlock it for you. You might have to keep calling 611 till you get someone willing to do it. Just call them up and tell them you will be traveling over seas and want to be able to use your phone. They might ask you where you are going and when but it should not be a problem.

Hi! This is my first post in the forum. I think I will keep posting here. Because one of my friend from US, she wants to bring me a verizon galaxy nexus. Then I searched to unlock it and I found too much web page, unlocking really easy. Then I found this topic and I read this:

Because I am living in Turkey. I searched to find the list but I didn't.

If I can unlock it, can I use in Turkey? Do you any information about it?

In saying it could be used in certain countries, I should've clarified a little, in that it'd still be under Verizon as a carrier/plan/contract. Some other countries are also CDMA countries, so if you have a Verizon phone on a contract, and you travel to those countries, the phone would work, although you would pay international rates. As for unlocking the phone to use on another carrier in those countries, that's something I am not very experienced in knowledge of, honestly.

For the record, Turkey is a GSM country, so you wouldn't be able to use the Nexus there anyway. For a more complete list of which countries use which, here's VZW's online list showing it:

Global Phone

Once unlocked you can use the Galaxy Nexus on any GSM or CDMA network worldwide (depending what the phone works with originally).

There's some information on this page, scroll down and it'll be on the right hand side:

Just to be clear, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus sold in the USA is for CDMA networks and doesn't have a GSM radio for international use. It has a SIM that is dedicated to 4G LTE Data, not voice.

So to answer the OP, "no, it won't work unlocked"

What if you got it unlocked to use on Net10. It should work with no 4g right, Because they do sell CDMA phones that run on Verizon.
