Accessories <<<<<Unofficial OtterBox Defender Thread>>>>>

According to this seller on ebay, who seems legit, case also comes with built in kickstand. No mention of it on otterbox site, but it would be a nice additional feature.

Otterbox would have said on the product page for the Defender if it had a kickstand. It does not say that the Incredible's Defender has a kickstand. Now, I have seen pics of the Defender for the EVO 4G, and it has a built-in kickstand to replace the phone's kickstand that gets covered up with the Defender.

The only way the Incredible's defender has a kickstand is if the belt clip holster doubles as one. But Otterbox doesn't mention if it can do that either.

I'm guessing it works as described in this Defender for Iphone 4 review. It is the holster as you say. Nifty

I hope it works that way. That would be awesome. But we probably won't be able to say for sure till people start to get cases in their hands. I don't think Otterbox released pics of the holster, or at least I haven't seen them if they did.

Ordered my case this morning as soon as the FB notice went out. I had an order with Amazon, but they wanted $5 more for shipping so I canceled it and went through Otterbox.
Can't wait to get it in. I'll do an unboxing video as soon as it's in.

RECEIVED!!!
Posting a video of my initial unboxing and application. It's a great case, much better than the Seidio Rugged for what I wanted. Compared to my 3gs case, the belt clip redesign seems much better. I'm very impressed.
As soon as the video is uploaded I'll share a link ;)
Or you can keep an eye on my youtube channel...

It should finish uploading in about 70 minutes, so hopefully 5:25pm.

Ugh... Not sure what is going on with OtterBox. While there cases (especially the Defender) are great, my recent experience has not been too great with them as a customer.

I'm trying to put aside my existing irritation with the incredible 6+ month 'coming soon' wait for the Incredible Defender case to become available.

I ordered the case on 10/20 around 3:00 PM ET. My order status still shows 'Being processed' status.

I emailed Customer Service yesterday and never recieved an acknowledgement of the email nevermind an actual response.

I just called them and while the rep was pleasant, I was told that on 10/20 they switchd to a new ordering system that was 'causing havoc with processing in the warehouse'. But most orders were processed within 4 calendar days. When I asked for a specific status on my oder, I was told the rep would have to email the warehouse for information and would call me back, but likely tomorrow. When I asked if they needed the order number she said she already looked it up when I gave my name.

Given the waiting demand for the Defender case one would think they would not switch systems on the day of its release. Also, one would think that if there computer systems would be interfaced to get status without additional delays of composing emails, wiating for response, and then calling the customer.

OK... rant over. Just want the case.

I ordered mine last friday evening. I received it Monday morning and it said "being processed" the whole time.

Ditto here. I ordered it right after ordering my Incredible Friday night.

My phone doesn't get here until tomorrow...

Thanks for the reply/info, it is good to know although that makes it more annoying for me

At 1:06 AM I got an automated email from OtterBox with my tracking number. Odd, the actual order number changed. According to FedEx I should get the case by 11/1. They could have at least expedited the shipping given they messed up the processing. Oh, the Order Status on OtterBox website says 'Shipped' at the top of the page and 'Not Shipped' at the bottom. They really need to get thier act together. At least there is forward movement, I think.

For those of you that have the Defender case, does the polycarbonate housing seem a little big? I notice when I shake my phone that the actual phone actually moves back and forth inside the shell.

Anyone else have this issue?

Same here. I was surprised when FedEx showed up Monday evening with my package.

I've noticed mine is like this as well.

Its not normal, I called Otterbox and they are sending me a new case but they are on backorder so it will probably be a while. Told me to throw the other one away...

I have since fixed the sliding issue but cutting a few slivers out of a business card and putting on both sides and at the bottom. Shouldn't have to do this with a $50 case but whatever works I guess.

I gave up on Otterbox when they made the IPhone their top priority and tossed everyone else on the back burner. I bought a Arduous Rugged instead and have been 100% happy!

I wonder if this is the quality issue that Otterbox said they were dealing with from their supplier. A couple of weeks before the case was released they said on their facebook page that they had cases and were ready to release them, but they started noticing quality issues and bumped the release back so they could fix the problems. So I wonder if these cases we are getting still suffer from these issues and they are correcting it during this backorder.

I noticed this as well after I took my phantom skinz off. I may call Otterbox to see if they are willing to send me a replacement. I ended up stuffing some paper behind the case to hold it in place. Unfortunately, everytime I take the silicone off I find that the polycarbonate shell is open :(

I would call if I were you so that they are aware of the problem. No excuse since we waited this long for the case and paid a good bit of money for it as well.

Done, I should have my replacement case on the way soon. Just spoke with a rep and emailed photos/information. The rep said, "Absolutely not, your phone should not be loose at all!"
What was frustrating as well, although not a huge deal. Since I had to put paper on the backside to get a good fit...the case continually snapped open. I hoping that cases with a good fit don't exhibit this same trait. Since I ordered mine on the 21st almost as soon as they opened I'm hoping that I wonder if I got one with quality control issues?
We will see...overall I'm still happy with the concept of the case. Now I'm wondering if I could put in a 2150, leave the back casing to the phone off and get a snug fit?

Well I guess I will go find a cheap temporary case for now, just cancelled my Amazon order. I'm not paying $50 for a case for it to not fit right or snap close right. It wasn't going to ship till nearly Thanksgiving anyway. I'm just going to order straight from Otterbox after they get these issues fixed.

michaelkahl, check to make sure that a tab that hold the polycarbonate shell together hasn't snapped off. I am currently dealing with this problem on the Defender I have on my iPod. It looks like there was a defect in the plastic and I guess the last time I opened the case a tab broke off. Now the lower left corner won't stay together unless the silicone is on. But I have emailed Otterbox about this and they said if I send them pics of the break along with my address I should get a new case under warranty.

My defender case came in today. The fit is as a few others have indicated, which is slightly larger than the device allowing it to rattle.

The real problem I have found though is the proximity sensor does not work with the case on. Anyone else find this to be true with their case?

Overall, the case is what I expected in the function. Just wish the fit was better, and the proximity sensor worked.

Can't argue with the customer support from Otterbox. Called, explained the situation. In less than 5 minutes they agreed to ship me a new case without any need to RMA or send the one I have now back.

They weren't quite as congenial with me. They seemed skeptical of my complaint at first regarding the looseness of the case. Then agreed to send me a replacement but told me I had to send the other one back. The purpose I was told was so that they can "see what is wrong with it."
