Root Unrevoked 3 warning

If you are doing this app for the free tether think twice. Myself and another member have both measured max wireless tether speeds at .4 down and .1 up. This is both 3 and 4G. My 4G was doing 3-4mbs down and 1 mbs up but when I turned on the wireless tether it dropped like a stone. ANother member is saying the same thing. I'm pretty pissed because I still had the original root with no update and the tether worked just fine. Now it looks like it's toast. Anyone else having the same issue?

DAMN , Thanks, I was just sitting down to do this right this very minute. I still have the 1st Unrevoked

Actually, I just did a speed test now with the original Unrevoked and my speed are way down also when using wifi tether, even with the original unrevoked. It was never this slow. Wonder if it is something else.

The Simple Root method has conquered the OTA update. Then there is a Start From Scratch thread at XDA Developers that will help you "complete" the root.

I just did the unrevoked 3 and am getting 1.2 - 1.5 down and .3 up while tethered to my macbook. I ran the speed test on the phone after and am getting the exact same speeds.

1.76 - 2.37 down
0.7 - 0.8 up

Average over 5 tests spread over a 30 min period.

Don't know why yours is slow, but I am seeing nice speeds, connected on 3g.

That's encouraging. All day in 3 and 4g and I have been seeing the same speeds(.4 and .1 max). When I have mobile switched off totally I get the same speeds. Maybe it goes up when there is a load on it??????

WAIT, So you didnt do a speed test. Are you looking at the wifi tether app on your phone(with the red and green numbers on the bottom?, If so, then yeah it will only read those numbers in red and green low until you go to a page then they jump up. Let me know.

I had this same problem!!!! Wireless was crawling and data speed on my phone went to shit.

Here's what I did that solved the problem and now wireless is fast as well as the phone as working as it should again.

I went to settings-privacy-factory data reset. I reset the phone, but it still kept the superuser permissions app. The phone's data speeds were great again. I was reading I'm still rooted so I decided to DL the wireless tether app (2.0.5) again. After I installed it the wireless worked and the speeds are now very very good.

Try this is you're having problems with unrevoked 3 causing very slow speeds.

This may make since. because I did a hard rest before installing unrevoked and wifi tether.

Encountered the same issue and executed a hard reset. Although up/down speeds were flaky initially, I started to get somewhat better data rates as minutes went by. Thanks for the info!:)
