Root Unrevoked and WifiTether problem...pls help, THANKS!

I have installed root successfully, i have installed the wifi tether app successfully...i have renamed ssid, i have access control ENABLED, and encryption is UNCHECKED...the i hit "start tethering"...it works i assume. it show to kb up and down as well as green wifi in status bar:

BUT NEITHER MY LAPTOP OR HERO SEE THE TETHER AS A POSSIBLE SOURCE TO CONNECT TO...any ideas? im restarting again to see if this helps..THANKS!

- do i need to go into sprint 30.00 a month thing too?
- I'm doing this over 3g NOT 4g

did you install wifi tethering from the market or the link in the other post? Market one will not work. Also after starting wifi tethering once, turn it off and reboot, see if that helps.

Same issue as above. I had tried the market version, and have now tried the linked version from the other thread. Still no dice.

Any (additional) help will be very much appreciated.

Close the app, reboot and try again. Make sure you re-enable access for your tethered device as well after you rename. I was having similar problems, and after rebooting it worked like a charm. over 1mbps on 3g too

I'm having a problem with this also. I can connect, but its not detecting the connection as an internet connection. [I downloaded the app from the marketplace].

Also, the SSID is not showing as WEP encrypted even though I have that option enabled.

Under Access controls, is your device showing up? and its access enabled?

I had the exact same problem. I followed the suggestion and downloaded the wireless tether app directly from the devs site and it worked the first time!

Wireless tether on the app store is working great for me. while using UnrEVOked app for root.

i was having the same problem using barnacle.

then i downloaded wireless tether app

works great! remember to disable access control till you are connected. then it will remember your device then you can turn access control back on.
