"We got the new OTA for EVO. While we're working, would you mind telling us what you do with your phone? unrevoked "Only With Root" survey"

Hope this means they have root for the 3.30 series EVOs

Could be wrong...but to me, OTA sounds like the update that was pushed out earlier (3.70). Pretty sure they were already working on a one-click root for 3.30, so saying they were working on it again... wouldn't make too much sense.

I have a stock EVO with the latest hboot (2.02), and I really wish that it were that simple.

Unfortunatly no, that's why there's a whole forum and hundreds of threads dedicated to rooting evos.

Well that sucks! The first thing that comes to mind when I hear ota is that all you do is click on the link and it does the magic for you. Just like ota apps
