Root unrevoked + wireless tether = nothing

I used the unrevoked tool to root my phone and I have super user access. I have tried both the wireless tether app and barnacle app but I get the same problem with both. They start everything runs fine says its working but I can not find the ssid being broadcast. i checked and both apps have the super user access. i searched the forum and couldnt find a solution however i found some one else who had the same problem in september but no one ever got back to him.

Which version of the application are you trying? If it is the one from the market it will probably NOT work. Go to this site and try another version. pre9 and pre11 seem to work for most.

Sorry for stealing thread but it's sort of on topic.
I've been using 4G and wireless tether pre7, pre9, pre11, pre14, and RC1 now.
It seems none of them were actually able to tether 4G speed.
Speedtest ranged from 4Mb to 9Mb down, and 1Mb to 2Mb up for 4G.
Devices connecting to my Evo would only get .50Mb to .90Mb down, and .15Mb to .30Mb up.
Any ideas what's causing this?
