Root Unroot stellar

Normohl

Lurker
Want to unroot my stellar to install verison's update. New to the whole smart phone thing. originally rooted to clear bloatware. But would also like to know how to unroot to install updates. also never backed it up beforehand.

Thanks!

It is not a jelly bean update, fyi. If you want to take it still, reboot device a couple of times, it will eventually capture the update. The update will install all apps you already removed plus a couple of new ones

I restarted the phone 5 times and nothing update never starts itself I try to manually start it but stills fails like normal

Well actually we now as of today are getting the jelly bean update!!! I got mine tonight but it failed because the root, tried twice, no go :l

Is there any way to unroot these and bring on the sexy jelly bean update :)

I registered just to tell you.
Follow the instructions here. This will install the default 4.0.4 software your phone came with. I don't believe this will delete your data, but I'm not completely sure, because I tried to factory reset my phone as a solution.EDIT: yes, it will clear all your data, to the point where it's like purchasing a brand new phone Anyways, rooting your phone, for some reason, makes you unable to install this update, so after following those instructions, you should be able to upgrade to jellybean. And it does install Lets Golf 3! and other stupid apps nobody is going to ever use.

Also sorry I didn't directly link, new users aren't allowed to do that, apparently.

If you can get me a copy of the download, or if you can get me an image of the successful flash, I can get you a rooted rom to install.

I still haven't had any luck unlocking the bootloader. Somebody much smarter than me is going to have to take a stab at that.

I know I have been away for a while. I'm back now with the updated os. I am willing to help get this update rooted. I need to know what file to pull and where to pull it from to give to the devs.

Only way I got JB rooted is by going back to complete stock (modems, recovery, kernel, etc) applying root then I used root keeper. After that I applied all updates including JB and hit restore root.
