Root Unroot/Update Droid3 with deleted bloat

I want to unroot my droid3 because i cant get updates (im on 2.3.4). But when i originally rooted it i deleted all the bloatware, and i have been reading that you can have problems unrooting if you deleted the bloat. So i am looking for some help either unrooting safely or just updating.

You are right that if you erased bloatware, the update may not take.

What is the system version? (Settings->about phone). Everything before the "XT862"... It should start with 5.

if you want to try not wiping data
you could flash 2.3.4/5.5.959 xml recovery file with rsd lite then take updates
but if phone bootloops, after flashing xml file, you will need to wipe data

if you are not worried about user data
flash 2.3.4/5.6.890 xml, with rsd lite and take 2.3.4/5.7.906 update
or
flash 2.3.4/5.7.906 xml with rsd lite

phone needs to be in AP Fastboot to use rsd lite
When the phone is off, press m+power and scroll down to AP Fastboot.

I would just wipe data in android recovery
and flash 906 xml
also phone will be unrooted during flashing

doogald may have other suggestions

In case preserving data doesn't work, I'd suggest using Titanium Backup Pro to backup the device while it's rooted, especially if you are going to re-root the phone after upgrading to 5.7.906.

If you are planning to re-root, you will need to use Dan Rosenberg's Motofail, which is here: Security Research by Dan Rosenberg

If you are going to root later and want to be debloated again, Pete Souza's debloating script still works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238472

The nice thing about that process is that there is a re-bloating script so that you can get all of the bloatware back, if there ever is another OTA from Verizon (it seems unlikely, but it's possible that a security update to Gingerbread will bring another GB update, for example.)

So i ended up flashing with 2.3.4/5.7.906 xml with rsd lite. But now the phone wont update, it just keeps saying "your device is up to date! No update is necessary at this time." Ive wiped it again, checked all my data setting to make sure they are right. Im not sure what to do.
