Root Unrooting Incredible problem

Hey guys, So i have a droid incredible and did the ota 2.3.4 update. Then I heard about rooting. So i was trying to find a way to root. So i found the tutorial on how to root 2.3.4 and i did it. It worked but my phone was acting a bit strange so. I started to do a factory reset after backing everything up. After the reset i got a pop up saying the UID's are different and a button saying im feeling lucky. I pressed and nothing. I tried doing a ruu but it said the main version is higher or something and it failed. Idc if my phone is rooted but the biggest issue is some of the stock widgets are gone that i liked and the internet browser keeps crashing! Help thanks?

And yea i can boot into clockwork recovery but whenever i try doing anything there it just stays at the logo for like 20min until i press the power button and it goes back to menu

You press the trackball to pick options in clockwork, not the power button, do a factory reset in clockwork.

I'd also recommend that you finish following the instructions in the "2.3.4 root thread" and proceed with the downgrade to 2.2 so you can achieve s-off.

It worked omg thanks lol. Theres a system update 4.08.605.2 should i download it? And do i still have recovery and hboot or is it wiped too?

Well i accepted the update accidently lol, and Now i've noticed i cant recieve texts. and if i try to send some i get a big red exclamation point next to the message

If you are indeed rooted with clockwork, I can't imagine how it would have proceeded.

If you're looking to unroot and upgrade entirely: http://androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/181255-how-return-stock-gingerbread.html

If you want to keep root, I still highly suggest checking out this thread: http://androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/427344-2-3-4-root-downgrade-s-off.html

Scotty knows his stuff and will be able to help you with any questions. Most should already be answered in the current context of the thread.

If you wish to proceed without s-off, I would still follow the directions to return to stock, and re-root just to clear up any current and potential problems you have.

The alternative is to flash http://androidforums.com/incredible-roms/447593-rom-ota-gingerbread-4-08-a.html

Just keep in mind, s-off allows you a great safety net in case something goes wrong!

well i reset my phone again and it prompted for an update and i declined. I wiped using clockwork, but i still cant recieve texts, ill probably downgrade tomorrow but i really need my texts to work now.

Then I would flash the gingerbread image and worry about getting s-off/root later. If you've already wiped several times, resetting to stock won't be any worse. It will get everything working properly until you want to re-approach it later.

Put it on your sd card, don't need to rename it.

Boot into clockwork, wipe cache twice, wipe dalvik cache twice.

Install from SD card.
