Root UNROOTING Trouble(*UPDATE!!*)

Duo Maxx3

Newbie
Lets cut to the chase. I'm having trouble unrooting. From hboot is not recognizing PC36IMG. I have it named EXACTLY HOW I SPELLED IT PC36IMG, no zip, no period, just PC36IMG in all caps.

hboot sees it and tells me its the wrong image or no image. I'm unrooting because the usb port on my Evo no longer works.

Help me please I don't see what I am doing wrong.

*EDIT*

TO ANYONE VIEWING THE THREAD PLEASE COMMENT. DON'T JUST VIEW AND LEAVE BECAUSE I ALONG WITH OTHERS MAY NEED THE INFORMATION YOU HAVE.

*EDIT 2* I HAVE DISCOVERED IT WAS A SD CARD PROBLEM. IF YOU HAVE A 2GB SD CARD THIS WILL NOT WORK. FOR WHAT EVER REASON THE EVO DOESNT LIKE 2GB's

Well, just from that first line, depending on your settings in windows (assuming), you could have completely removed the file extension.

The reason many people say to remove the ".zip" is because -under the right settings- windows will hide file extensions.

The file needs to be named exactly "PC36IMG.zip" Can't have "PC36IMG" or "PC36IMG.zip.zip" ...

You can have windows set to not hide file extensions... I dont know why they did it and personally you should never have it do so

The file extension is hiden so when hboot reads it, it reads it as PC36IMG.zip, but as I stated above it always tells me no imagae or wrong image.

Use the ruu method that you run on your computer if your trying to get the stock rom and recovery. Link in the rooting guide I'm on my phone or id link

I can't use the ruu method because my phone can't connect via USB. The usb port is breaking away from the board and barely charges as is. I have to hold the phone a certian way just to get the slightest charge. Let alone trying to go through an unrooting process. If the connect was randomly loss in the middle of the process the phone would undoubtedly brick.
