I was going to suggest the RUU, but then I saw you had issues with it. Do you have the HTC drivers installed? Have you tried searching the web to see what that error code refers to?

Also.... For what reason are you unrooting the phone?

the Andriod SDK drivers???? I did download that if thats what your referring too

I am unrooting because of the power button thats not working wanted to take it back to spring but I am rooted so I know that will be a problem

I aslo did take MIUI off my sd card but when the phone turns on it still runs the miui rom

There is a guide to use ADB to access your phone from your PC, but I can't for the life of me find it at the moment. Also you can use Android Flasher to flash things to your phone. I believe you can accomplish the unrooting process with that, but I'm not 100% sure.

Sit tight while I gather info and troops to see if we can get you fixed up. :)

Ok, sorry it took me soooo long. :o

http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/371191-get-unrooted-warranty-service.html

this is a guide to use ADB to unroot your phone with a broken screen, which essentially is the same situation you have now.

What hboot do you have?
What root method did you use to root your phone?

If you used a newer method than what xtremedays has in his guide, you'll need different files. Once you post back with your hboot version or root method used we'll get you the correct files. :)

hboot 6.16.1002

i used revolutionary

Ok, the hboot files that xtreme linked in the guide won't work for you. Give me a little bit to see if I can dig em up. :)

One more thing, what is your radio version (Baseband #) We'll need that as well.

ok, we're going to try this method:

Download these files:

1. EVO_Radio_2.15.00.11.19.zip

2. PC36IMG_HBOOT_6.17.zip

3. PC36IMG_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.54.651.1_Radio_ 2.15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed.zip

with android flasher, you can flash radios, your splash screen, recovery as well as hboot. you will need to extract the .img file from the .zip file.

so here is what you will need to do:

1.download android flasher from here:
AF Downloader

2.and extract it to someplace on your desktop where you can find it.

3.flash the radio file linked above

3.download the hboot 6.17 file (linked above, this is hex edited and "should" revert you to s-on).

4.extract the img.file and place it some where you will be able to find it.

5.run android flasher

6.go to the bootloader slot and select browse and then navigate to the hboot 6.17 img file you just extracted.

7.select it and make sure that you check off bootloader.

8.then at the very bottom select flash

9. Use the same procedure for the ruu file
.
I have more than one step 3 because you need to use the same subsequent steps for flashing both the radio and the hex edited hboot.

I've never tried or heard of anyone flashing the ruu from android flasher, but I don't see why it won't work. I've also sent out a few PM's for backup, so hopefullt we'll get a few more troops in here to help out.

Try this method, and if it doesn't work we'll try to use the ADB method I linked above.

Why I didn't think of using android flasher first is beyond me. LOL :)

If you have any questions just post back where you're stuck, and we'll get you going.

If your computer is not recognizing your phone, we may need to delete all htc software from your PC and reinstall the drivers. Try the method I posted above while I look for the driver files. If it doesn't recognize your phone let me know, and I'll post up the drivers for GB. :)

EDIT:

I found the drivers pretty fast, LOL.

If you're on the Sprint TEP (protection plan) rather than HTC warranty, it's Sprint's policy to honor that even though you're rooted, unless it can be shown that root is the actual problem (and it very rarely is).

The Sprint techs are directed to tell you that rooting is bad, install the right software to see if the problem is solved, if not - replace your phone.

They changed their policy on this last May, and have been the only carriers to do so.

Hope this helps!

ado the adb commands work fine but

I dont understand after step. 7 when I unplug my phone after I shell rebooted it and try running ruu I still get the connection error
