Root Unrooting..

Joezo

Lurker
I can't seem to unroot my phone, running froydvillain atm and I need to take it into the shop tomorrow to be fixed. I've restored to 1.5 using a nandroid backup I made right before I flashed a custom rom for the first time. I'm now trying to use RUU for orange phones, which mine is. But I'm getting error 170: usb connection error.
I've tried running in fastboot usb mode but that isn't working either. HTC sync works fine though :(
Please help
Joe

Right, finally got it working. Using advice on this page.. Re: Error [170]: USB Connection error - HTC Hero (Sprint, Cellular South & Others) - Android Forums - HTC Community

Specifically this part;
SOLVED it,
right lets go
device manager> adb interface then on your android right click then update driver> browse my comp for driver then at the bottom select let me pick from a list of drivers on my pc select HTC hero
next run the RUU it should crash out during boot loader and give a NEW error 171, DONT touch the phone leave it on the white screen and run the RUU again and WINNER updated ;)

now for the ota updates. hope this helps anyone who gets this issue also.
