Root Unrooting

Erm, help,

I roooted my Desire any many moons ago but never got round to doing anything with it :smokingsomb: <-- no reason for that I just wanted to use it :p

So how do I find out what root I went for, because I'm jiggered if I can remember?

How to remove it I'll search for later hopefully?

you can un-root by running a RRU this will send it back to stock but as you never did anything after rooting then presumably you are running a rooted stock rom now. Why would you want to un-root?

Thanks,
I just want to get it back to standard so whoever I give it to can start afresh

If it was me I would just factory reset it and leave it rooted. If like you they do nothing with roms then it will make no difference. If they wish to experiment with roms then you have done half the work for them.

Is your phone s-off or s-on?

If you're s-on you can just run an RUU.

If you're s-off you will need to flash the Alpharev downgrade hboot first. Not doing so will replace everything except the hboot & generate an error message. That in itself is not a problem but it might be disconcerting if a new owner isn't expecting it.

There have been loads of issues here recently with people buying second hand rooted phones & not really knowing anything about what they have. Return to stock completely is the best policy.

There is an unrooting guide in the all things root guide section.
