unsufficent space on this device problem!

hello .. i am new to android , and have got a htc desire .. . but i have one problem that has been annoying me since i have got the phone.

my problem is that when i try to download some applications it does not allow me to it says they is no unsufficent space on this device but there is i have alot of space on my sd card also on my phone so dont knw why it is saying this. is they any solutions to this promblem? plz help fnks

No - there is no solution to insufficient space. Only way out is root. I dont know why HTC shipped such a good phone with so little space. I think with recent updates to apps that can not be removed like maps and flash, I have only got about 20 apps that I have downloaded (admittedly heavy apps) and I have no more space.

I also have a rooted ZTE blade and I have about 120 apps installed.
