First some background: About a week ago my S2 stopped charging and and would not connect to my computer via the usb port. I got around it by using an external battery charger but there were a few bugs. Mainly being that the screen would turn on about 10 seconds after putting it in sleep mode (so I'm looking at the lock screen) and eat battery like crazy. On top of that it would frequently freeze while navigating the home screens (but not when using apps oddly enough).
This morning I got some verrrry fine tools and cleaned out a whole load of gunk from the usb port. Thankfully my phone is charging using the port as normal once again but I cannot, for love nor money, connect to kies. I can use kies air, but plugging in the usb to my computer only charges the phone. What's more, the backlight/freezing problem persists so I'm not sure if it's related to the usb thing.
