Root unusual unroot case

Ok, this is an unfortunate predicament im in. Ive had my phone rooted for about 6 months now (liquid froyo 1.4 and slayer 1.1ghz kernal) i originally rooted using easy root. heres the problem, my power button recently broke and i still have the warranty is there any way to get this phone to stock without using the power button at all?

Purchase ROM manager and flash one of the Stock Images. They give you a choice of rooted or unrooted. This way you don't have to hold Power+X to get into recovery.

Hope this helps.

i have the free version of clockwork rom manager. do i restore from a back up or do i flash clock work recovery? also thanks for your help

In ROM Manager, click "Download ROM", then scroll down to "Stock Images", download "Verizon Droid 2.2 FRG01B".

When it is finished downloading, install that ROM choosing the unrooted option and wiping data/cache.

EDIT: if you haven't flashed ClockworkMod Recovery, you will probably need to do that first.

i was checking in the apps and super user permissions is installed, i didnt select anything extra during the rom set up. should i re flash or is there a way to uninstall it?

You could re-root to remove that, but I wouldn't worry about it. If you are exchanging your phone they won't even care about that app being on your phone. The important part is that it's unrooted.

hmm it looks like im still rooted. I reinstalled easy root and right when i opened it it brought me to the "your already rooted page". also, should i allow this over the air update to proceed?

You shouldn't still be rooted, try installing the OTA update... it can't hurt and it might unroot your phone.

no worrys i found a root checker app and it verified that i do not have root access. awesome now i cant return this to verizon =). thanks so much btw.

Hopefully the Superuser app is now gone from your app drawer. That is the porblem with the 'stock' unrooted rom in rom manager, it doesn't remove it. Last I heard they may or may not look for it.
