Help Unwanted duplicate Google contacts

Newbie
Google contacts app on my S4 is about to drive me crazy. I am not sure why, but seemingly randomly a lot of my Contacts suddenly get duplicated, with no actual information (phone, address etc) in them when they are opened. The alphabetized list uses colored dots. To find the original of each contact, I must open EACH of them, and delete the empty duplicates. I have all of my contacts on the phone saved under All Contacts, using my Google account, I do not use Groups for anything.

Hi there. I manage my contacts on my PC. Just open gmail on your pc and click on contacts. It's easier to see the duplicates that way.
Good luck

There are multiple contact databases. one is your Google/Gmail database. another is your SIM card. another is in the device's own memory. Go to settings and pick which one(s) you want displayed.
