Root Unzipping a rom for audio files

So I'm trying to extract some audio ring tones, alerts, and alarms from the stock 2.1 to add to my froyo cyanogen rom. When I download a stock rom on my pc and unzip it with either windows stock program or winrar I am not able to access any of the files.

I tried downloading this, unzipping it to a certain folder (with windows and WinRAR), I open the new folder (2010-06-27.17.58.31), then there are 7 .IMG files in them. I get the same thing when I though it would be as easy as opening up a nandroid backup and getting the files from there.

Can someone fill me in on what step im missing? Thanks!

Someone needs to know this, I can't figure it out. All I want to do is extract some old ring tones from a nandroid back up to my new rom. Anyone?

What you're downloading is a nandroid backup. You need a system dump. Check here:
