Up/Down Speed Test

BG0310

Newbie
When I got my phone at the end of January, I was at 2650 kbps down and 612 kbps up.

Now, I'm only at 1604 down and 202 up. What could be affecting the drop and what can I do about it to make it speedier again? Thanks in advance.

Yea. Download the free app in the market. "My Account"
It's a Tmo app and it shows you... well it's an official tmo account so yea.

Anyways, when you open it up, it'll show you how much data you used. If you used 5GB, it tell you that "You've used a lot of data and that your data is being slowed for the remainder of the network"

It'll tell you that your bill may be due 21st but things don't reset until the 25th. (my case).

If that's not the problem, I've been told that Tmo upgraded their network and that you need to get a new SIM card. SIM cards cost about $30 but you should be able to get it for free. Depending on how friendly the reps are. I got my 3G SIM card for free (I had an older SIM card) but a different Tmo store tried to charge me for the 4G SIM card. I haven't tried the one by my house, but yea. Just a heads up.

Other than that... I don't know...

Thanks for the tips. I've only used about 330 MB this billing cycle, but I'm more curious how these things work than annoyed.

Have a brand new, newly activated demo and my speeds are wildly inconsistent from sub 512kb to 3mbs to 5-6mbs. Often in the same area, towers within site, and in one instance I had trouble connecting in a fairly open high traffic area where my Sprint 4g phone was connecting fine. Going to try a Sidekick 4g, but neither phone (nor the 4g slide) are going to cut it, so i'm hoping for this g2 replacement the rep is talking about. But if I don't see more consistent connection speeds in the suburbs of philly, I'll be sticking with Sprint for our corporate account.
