Upcoming Software Changes - Official

Great post by 'several'!

2 things to clarify/add:

2.0.1 + live wallpapers = 2.1 There are no changes to the OS except the live wallpapers.

TMO USA has almost nothing to do with the other tmobiles around the world, except for an investment by DT.

Well the first part has come true as you can see here when they answered my question on twitter

Twitter / T-Mobile USA: @thelonetraveler There wil ...

A T-Mobile rep tweeting something is not the same as that something coming true. There's no announcement anywhere on the T-Mobile or Samsung site confirming that info (that I've been able to find.) We'll find out tomorrow if that is accurate.

Makes no sense that they'd send a 1.5 bug fix rather than rolling those fixes into and OS update. Totally inefficient approach if that is actually what they're doing.

Okay I do believe it is my turn to jump in on your guys' quarrel... :)

First off it wouldn't actually be too far fetched to say motorola does have exclusivity with 2.0 just look out there how many phone with 2.0 are there? Is it just the droid?

Remember back in the day when people would actually read a thread before posting to it?

Quoting myself above:
The assertion that only Motorola/Verizon devices are running 2.x is laughable. Let me google that for you

I definitely would love a step up the android ladder but all these months and only 1.6? that ridiculous we bh2 owners should get an auto bump to 2.1 even if its not stable... All the good apps reign on 2.1... 1.5 is behind sooo much.. not even apps to sd I mean what version lets us utilize sd card memory for apps as in like saving it to the card and launching it from the card so that we could have hundreds of apps on it without deleting.

2.1 is fully stable. In fact, it rather rocks.

I've got a Nexus one. Apps2SD is not part of 2.1. Only modded roms will let you do apps2S, and as far as I know there are no 2.1 roms that will do it yet. Cyanogen's mod for the Nexus doesn't have Apps2SD yet so I doubt anyone else has added that either (at least not in a stable way.)

Its real man heres some proof from samsungmobileusa "We'll keep you posted on Behold II updates! RT @TMobile_USA Updates are coming soon to the Behold II. Stay tuned!" Im super excited to get anything.http://twitter.com/SamsungMobileUS/status/9252067512

They've been working on the 1.5 bug fixes for a while, and in fact completed them a while ago (they source has been on samsung's website). So it makes perfect sense. What makes no sense is how people expect an os upgrade 6 weeks after the code was released by Google. 2.1, if it is coming, is still a few months off.

Expecting 2.x any time soon is indeed unrealistic.

Expecting 1.6 (donut) sometime late last year is pretty reasonable.

1.5/cupcake is almost like running win98 (relative to the android dev timetable. :-| )

If this is real it would be my first OTA update.

There is no 3G yet where I live. Will the update be able to come through WiFi or should I be able to get the update file manually (and where would that become available)?

I would imagine you will get it through Edge.

I would imagine you will get it through Edge.

I was curious more because of the time issue. Edge here seems barely better than GSM data speeds. Thank goodness that T-Mobile should be adding 3G coverage to mid Missouri by this summer - or so a rep told me.

Interesting report from someone who watched Samsung's Live webcast today:
I just finished watching the live Samsung webcast about the Behold II. The response to their admittedly high number of Android upgrade question was: 'Keep an eye on the T-Mobile website for news or updates.'
I just checked my 5 favorite sites for android rumors/news/info etc and none of them have anything about any Behold II updates rolling out today.

Like I said, the T-Mobile twitter reps spout nonsense about android updates just like their sales and CS reps do. We'll know we're getting an update when it starts showing up on phones.

The cake is a lie.

So Tmobile lies to themselves on internal systems?

Can you explain the screen shots we have seen? Or are they the best photoshopping ever?

What screenshots? Of the twitter feed? I'm not saying the twitter posts are fake. I'm saying they're mistaken.

Ha, top 5 sites?

TRY THIS SITE! And I don't mean the forums.

I'm no longer going to do homework for snarky posters.

I didn't say top five sites, i said my favorite 5.

What screenshots are you talking about? Screenshots of bug fixes? Screenshots of 'about' screen showing the update on their phone? What?

I'm not asking you to do my 'homework', I'm asking you to explain what you're talking about because I'm not psychic.

I'm not snarking at anyone here, I'm snarking at T-Mobile reps who spout incorrect info.

I told you exactly were to look, it's still the top blog post, so its not hidden.

you must be reading someone else's tweets cuz i've never said I think it's real.

if you've got the update post a screenshot for us showing the about screen with the build number?

I'm not waiting for it. I'm running the stock android 1.5 from the galaxy on my wife's behold ii and i'm using a nexus one.

i'm just really annoyed by false info about android updates from t-mobile reps and the rumor mills they feed.

i'm also calm. :-)

i didn't say you said it was real, i said you know it's real!! you argued with them trying to get them to say it was delayed they told you you were wrong. they told you it was just 1.5 android.

i didn't say you said it was real, i said you know it's real!! . you argued with them trying to get them to say it was delayed they told you you were wrong. they told you it was just 1.5 android. don't play i know whats up

and i still don't believe it. when i see a screenshot of the about screen of a behold ii showing it's received an update i'll believe it.

t-mobile reps have a history of saying things like this with android updates and it turning out to be false, mistaken, incorrect information.

blog post? you said this site. this site is http://androidforums.com/

It's a discussion forum, not a blog. wth are you talking about?

I looked here
http://androidforums.com/
and here
Samsung Behold 2 - Android Forums

and i still don't know what you're talking about but it sounds informative.

by this site he means the host site. www.phandroid.com and yes its the first post! if you still won't beleive me that's cool and i even kinda understand, but call tmo and ask for the android development department they'll tell ya what you want to know.

you don't need root for a screenshot, you just need the SDK.
