Update 1.28 now available

My phone has been running for 32 hours now & is still on 63% battery, i have made/received 9 calls taken 5 photos checked a couple of emails & done a couple of other things including had a battery temperature test run for 10 minutes. Overall i have seen a big improvement in battery life since the update.

This is awesome! Hopefully this translate over to the Evo 4G LTE (LTEvo) for Sprint!

Just had the update over here in Thailand.
1.28.707.10
Just need to wait and see any notable differences.

I'm not having any problems with my phone so was wondering....is it worth downloading the new update or are there problems with the new update that suggest it would be best to not bother yet?

ahhhhhh this brings back some fond memories of the desire update to froyo .that took some time if i remember right

I just got my unlocked one x today. It is working fine, but is on software version 1.19.707.1. I noticed when I was setting it up that all of the language options, while in english, were all something like "English Thailand".

Do I have some funky one off phone? How do I update, or is there even an update available for my device? I tried checking, and it says there are no updates available.

You've got a South East Asia unit. I have one,my software version was 1.26.707.10 before updating to 1.28.707.10

Cheers.

Just got my phone yesterday after upgrading from a rooted sensation, and got the update immediately, so no idea what it was like before. Just doing a few battery cycles to get it up to speed (charging is taking about 3 hours:mad:), hopefully battery life will be good;)

Loving the phone so far!

Got an Orange branded phone here and still waiting :(

I asked OrangeHelpers about it on Twitter a couple of days ago and they said they had no information on it. Expect it in about December then, when everyone else is on 2.5

iam on orange in the uk unbranded one x and i got the update last week, shame the lag between screens on the live wallpaper is still there..

3 mobile branded and still waiting any idea how long it usually takes for updates to go through the carriers for the branded devices?

I've been on unbranded phones until this one so I'm not used to having to wait for updates...

If experiences with the Desire HD are anything to go by, it could be anything up to 2 months :(

Typical..Hopefully we will have it by the end of next week but I doubt it

I've asked them via Twitter every day this week and they just say they have no information about it - not a "we're working on it", a "it's on our list", or a "we're not doing it", just a "no information". It's infuriating, isn't it? That's the one thing I think Apple do right - that they control the OS and they push the updates to everyone, not that they give it to the operators who then decide if they're going to do it, put their own rubbish on, then send it back to HTC who then push it. No wonder so many people debrand or flash custom ROMs.

Vodafone punched out the update here this morning (Brisbane, AUS). Phone's been on with moderate use all day; calls, games, facebook, texts, net etc. and the battery is at approx. 50%. Fairly decent improvement.

Just got the OTA, but can't seem to install it when it reboots.

I've rooted the phone and have CWM instead of the stock recovery. Is that what's causing the problems? It keeps aborting on youtube.odex or something like that.

Any help appreciated.

Because you have CWM recovery. The OTA update is written/engineered for stock everything devices; either it isn't in the right format for the recovery to recognize it, or it is doing a check, seeing a non-stock recovery image, and aborting. Someone will (most likely) post a CWM- flashable version at some point, somewhere on the internet (if it isn't available already)...

EDIT:
I just read/realized your bit there about the .odex file; it isn't recognizing your version of the youtube app as official. That's about the extent of my knowledge when it comes to odex'd and de-odex'd files though :dontknow:, maybe someone with more know-how with those can chime in...

Yeah, you need to reflash the stock recovery if you want to install the OTA. I'm not sure, but you may need to relock the bootloader too.

Edit: Seems I'm not quick enough :p

Once again I asked Orange about the 1.28 update today and this time they replied that they are not aware of any updates for the One X. Ignorance? Have HTC not issued it to them?

BTW Debranded (not unbranded) handsets may not be able to apply the update due to the handset CID. When I debranded my Desire the first couple of updates installed successfully, but when HTC issued one particular update it failed on debranded handsets as it checked the CID during the installation and if it was carrier branded it failed.

could i just uninstall and reinstall youtube?

could i just uninstall and reinstall youtube?

Like I said, I don't know enough about odex'd files to know what the real under-lying problem is (and if an uninstall/reinstall would help- all I know is that the installer is rejecting your version of the youtube app). That said, I am actually not sure if you can uninstall the GApps (Google apps- Gmail, Talk, Maps, PLay Store, Youtube, etc.), or if you can only uninstall updates applied to them...

Talk to some of the devs over at XDA, maybe someone has already zipped a package that plays nicely with CWM Recovery; or at least know enough about the odex'd files to know what the issue is (and presumably the fix)...
