Help Update 2.3.4 - so many issues!

fireyram

Lurker
Can I uninstall it? Anyone else dissatisfied with the update?

Issues include:

1. Voice to text feature no longer works (always get the error "speak more loudly or clear" no matter what I do). This feature used to work so great and now I can't use it at all.

2. Auto complete has changed spellings to shorter slang versions (e.g., "sayin" instead of "saying")

3. Every 5 minutes I get the "low data storage space" error, which causes my email to stop syncing. I had to uninstall Twitter, and clear data from every app on my phone. I know this is a known bug, but it's really ridiculous. Every time I open Facebook I get the error.

4. Some of my apps were uninstalled after the update.

5. Cut / Copy / Paste feature is annoying (used to be a lot simpler).

I'm sure there are other issues I'm not thinking of right now. I'm really frustrated. Any way to uninstall??

Also, when I check System Updates it says my phone is up to date.

I'm sorry you are experiencing problems with the upgrade. I don't know of a way to step back without achieving root. I hope another can chime in and help you address the individual problems you are having. I just wanted to pop in and extend a welcome to Android Forums to yas.

Welcome aboard, fireyram. Sorry to see you're having such a mess of issues following that update. We see this quite a bit in the forums, and on many devices. Which Android device do you have?

I would not hesitate to back up my needed data and then do a factory data reset, then re-set up the device as needed. If the update is an OTA, I'd allow it. If not, I'd just leave the device be on the older version of the OS.

Either way, I'd not worry about the missing apps, because (usually) they're in your "my apps" list in Android Market if you paid for them. It's a bit of work, but they can all be re-installed.

I'd be careful about apps/widgets installing immediately following the reset, though, with an eye toward perhaps some of them not playing nice with the coming update (if one comes). I'd allow the update first, then start re-installing apps/widgets and configuring, etc. ;)
