Update 5.9.902 Now Available!

Got the notification this morning as well, I am not rooted, but I installed it and now half of my applications are gone. Another fine product released by Verizon.

Got mine this morning, too. I listen to Tune-In radio on my ride in everyday and always lose the stream at the same places, even though I have a strong 4G signal at the time. This morning, no drops all the way in!

Now for ICS.

I just got verification from Motorola ... 5.9.902 was released. I participated in the Soak Test.

Motorola sent an invitation to me and I was required to fill out a form. The form asked for my MEID and I had to agree not to discuss the test with anyone except other testers until 5.9.902 was released to everyone. They said they were going to randomly pick 1,000 people from those who submitted the forms. Later then said they were going to send the update to 20,000 people.

Motorola wanted to know if my Bionic had ever been root-ed and required that it be un-root-ed before applying the update.

Motorola expected that the soak test would last two days.

5.9.902 was pushed onto my Bionic Tuesday at 12:30pm and when I woke up the phone it was requesting permission to do the install.

The install took almost exactly 10 minutes. I had no problems. I had three data drops the first four hours and none after that. I think they were working on my tower again.

Motorola established a Private forum to provide feedback on testing experience. People in the soak test could only logon to that forum. They no longer had access to the standard forums.

Motorola sent me a questionnaire to fill out Wednesday at 8:00pm.

5.9.902 was then released Friday (2012.02.10) at 12:00am. I can now access the Motorola forums as usual and am permitted to talk about 5.9.902.

Playing the game Motorola’s way I have been running the supported version of 5.9.902 since Tuesday (2012.02.07) at 1:00pm.

I am in a 3G-only area. The most noticeable changes in 5.9.902 are the lack of data drops and the transition from Wi-Fi to 3G or 3G to Wi-Fi is now VERY fast.

I'm running stock, rooted, .901 and checked System Updates. There it was. Downloaded in about 5-10 minutes, took about 10 to install. Still have root.
