Root update a rom

m00nie

Newbie
i installed SGBS last year, its been getting a bit laggy lately. i notice theres a few newer versions since, now called SensEVolutioN..

How do i update to a newer version ?? do i need to start from the beginning and re flash everything ?

cheers

It depends on how different the new one is. If the ROMs are sufficiently similar you can just flash the new one over the old without a wipe. Otherwise it's a case of installing from scratch: back up apps and data, boot into recovery, take a nandroid backup, wipe, flash new ROM, restore apps and data (but not system data).

If they've changed the ROM name that suggests that it's more likely that you need to go the second way, but that's just a guess. If they don't say, then you can try flashing without a wipe, and if there's a problem go for a wipe and reflash.

Whatever you do, take your app/message backups and your nandroid backup before doing anything.

thanks..

ive backed up now so may try a flash first as it says

Install Notes:
1. You must have an ext 2/3/4 partition on ur SD-Card (512MB - 1GB recommended)
2. go into recovery and turn off signatur verfication (till now its not signed)
3. flash rom like every other rom

If you come from another ROM - Full Wipe Recommended

if im over writing do i just flash from recovery. cant remember. i go into recovery and chose flash zip.. then select the file from the sd card
