Root Update after root

Lurker
I managed to root my Nexus S when it was in version 2.3.1. But now I am getting the prompt of updating the phone to 2.3.2. But whenever I try to update it, it just gets stuck on the Google screen and doesn't really update.

I had a feeling that this would happen, but I thought it would just update and then I'd just have to root it again.

Please tell me how to update my phone and then re root it. Thanks!!!

As far as I know, simply rooting shouldn't stop the update process - it never did on my Nexus 1...

Have you changed the recovery image?

No, I haven't changed anything. I also thought that rooting shouldn't stop the update but my phone just gets stuck on the Google page.

Has anyone with a rooted Nexus S updated to 2.3.2?? Maybe you can just tell me the steps to do it.

I thought when you rooted the Nexus S that the recovery image got changed as part of the root process.

I rooted my phone but did not add a custom ROM but I can not seem to get the 2.3.3 update to show on my phone.

This is one of the questions that I had to, how easy it is to role back to being unrooted. I only rooted my phone cuz I wanted wifi tethering. I have not installed any rom. Will it be a difficult process. And I have another question thats bugging me, are there any security risk to me having a rooted phone? I mean in terms of my data being stolen (personal information during web transactions). Just want to be sure that my OS is still secure.

Thanks guys! Oh, I used unrevoked to root

I think updatewise u should still be able to get updates. It's only if you modded ur phone like going with the Cyanogen Mod or something else. Also the updates take time to roll out to all the phones. It's not everyone gets the update the second it gets released. Some people get theirs a few days later than others.

Well thats kind of an odd reason seeing as Nexus S supports tethering out of the box:confused: no security risks you are absolutely secure just watch whatever apps you download outside of the android market though..
