Update Coming

Updated the phone and the only UI difference I see is the unlock screen. I haven't played with it much to notice what else is going on. I haven't used the phone to see if the noise is gone.

One thing I noticed is that the data will drop when on a call. Didn't think that was the case prior to the update. Any way to keep allowing data while on a call?

I am assuming, update can not be done over rooted phone, even Tweakstock root? Mine simply starts loading, loads for maybe 25% of data load, then goes to triangle with "!" sign, and that's it.
Do I have to Odin it back to stock EP4, or else?

I've been on a few phone calls today and the clicking noise is still there. I don't hear the loud pitch noises but just the clicking.

Anyone else experiencing similar symptoms?

Is this an OTA update?
I've checked under "Settings", "About Phone", then "System Updates", but it says my phone is up to date even though its showing ver.EP4 rather than ver.FP1.

Any help?

Thanks, Rich

It is an over the air update. There are ways to update it through Odin if you know how to do that.

All I did was restart my phone and the update notification was there. I know I was one of the last to receive the GB update. They roll the update out in stages.

Got update last night...new un lock screen, new app icons. Unlock seems fast with no hesitation as before. What have you found?

Yeah same here. Also the whole system just seems snappier to me. Otherwise, nothing else major. If it helps the data drops, I'll be very pleased!
Also no issues with go launcher for me.

Agreed, phone also seems a bit snappier than it was for me before (although I had a similar performance boost from the initial 2.3 update, and soon afterwards my phone started to bog down again).

I'm also using Go Launcher EX with no problems - what is the issue supposed to be?

I've noticed my GPS gets a quicker lock now when I have the Verizon Location and Stand Alone GPS checked. Prior to the update, it would take forever sometimes never and now it locks within a minute.

The system does seem quicker. I never have had the clicking everyone else seems to have. Could this update possibly mean we could see ICS in the future? For a phone that is less than a year old it seems wrong not to get that upgrade.

I now have 4G reception at my house. Before the update I could only get 4G if I was located at one corner of a certain room. Music streaming seems to be better and does not have long pauses between songs in some instances.

What does the new unlock screen locks like? Still the jigsaw puzzle thingy?
How can i check if my phone have the latest update?

You can check to see what build number you have by going into settings: about phone and scrolling down to build number, if it says FP1 then you have the new update. As far as the lock screen is concerned the jigsaw puzzle is gone and just a generic lock is in its place.

OK playing around with the new update - what I have found so far:

New Unlock Screen - just a center icon you swipe
New clock font on locked screen
New App Icons (no border around them - look like they're floating)
Unlocking is VERY FAST - no hesitation
New interface for listening to voice mails
New screen and icons when receiving calls

Something that initially freaked me out....I went to send a text and wanted to use "voice to text" and the freakin "microphone key" was gone! I was so pis*ed I was already planning to bail on the phone and get something else. I use Voice to Text ALL THE TIME and I thought they got rid of it. At the next traffic light, I hit the settings key while on the keyboard and low and behold!!!!! You can toggle between two different key boards ....one that has the mic key and one that does not. ALSO....there is an option to turn on a "period short cut" which is a double tap on the space bar....ALSO....ironically the period is right next to the space bar now.

Still looking for more changes, post any you find. So far I like the update.

I've not see that as the microphone was still on mine and no ability to select a different keyboard.

While looking at the keyboard screen, hit the "gear key" (settings) and look at the options, there should be an option regarding the two keyboards (one with the voice-mic key and one without, there is also an option to activate the "period" shortcut). Let me know if you find it or not.

Got the OTA update yesterday morning. It went smoothly. I like the new lock screen better. The old one (slide) could be difficult if you didn't pull your finger all the way across. GPS locking seems faster. Ringer is still a bit delayed when receiving calls, but is better than it was. Phone does seem smoother and a bit more snappier. I'm using GoLauncher EX and have had no problems so far.
