Help UPDATE DOUBTS(URGENT PLEASE)

please am an xperia arc s user.and i learnt i could update my phone to ics using the pc companion.i wish to as if an sd card must be inserted into the device to carry out this upgrade.plea se help!!

i want to upgrade my sony ericson xperia arc s Which is currently running on gingerbread to ICS(v4) which is legal.this update shall be done when i connect the phone to the computer and install the sony pc suite on the computer from where the update shall be done.So i was wondering if this could be possible without an sd card inserted into the device given the fact it has merely 450mb of internal storage!

No there's no need for an sd card if I understand you correctly.
The update goes to a specialy assigned partition on the phone's internal storage
