update froyo 2.2 for orange htc desire

Doesn't work for me. I tried a couple of day and a couple of months ahead.

This is not some Knob taking the piss, this is what I was told by a Team Leader in Orange customer service, which I was directed to do by the Executive Office at Orange. Don't shoot the messenger, if it had have worked I wouldn't have been such a knob then!!!!!!

I wasn't calling you a knob, I was calling the Orange cs whether he was a team leader or not.

Oh and pissing about with the date has buggered up my 3G Watchdog stats. Awesomes.

I've just tried this from work, and it now tells me there is a system update available, but only after I had disabled auto date/time setting and set the date 2 months forward.

I'll try downloading the update at home later when I can use my own broadband connection - it's an 85-odd MB download, so no way am I doing that over the air.

Edit: I mean plugged in/USB internet sharing, rather than over WiFi.

It wont work, cos you have allow mobile network which resets your time :(

How is this possible? Cos you need a mobile network or wifi access to check if there is an update and both of these will reset your time/date!!!!!!!!!

Have done this and no update...

I have the Orange update 2.2 downloading on my phone right now... i didnt do any think to get it, it was just there. anybody else have it yet?

FINALLY!

downloading now!

*drums fingers*

EDIT: I'm in London. Just finishing the install now; will have a fiddle around and let you know what's changed, if anything, and how much of the branded sh*te is still there

FURTHER EDIT: didn't have to do any mucking about with the date or time whatsoever - just checked for updates, found one, downloaded and installed

????????????
Im interested in peoples locations as it's obviously not a complete nationwide release as of yet.

In London, on an Orange-branded handset.

My date didn't reset itself until I opened up Settings|Date & Time again.

JudithPriest, did you have to do anything to get the update? I've got a branded Orange phone direct from them and when I go to About/System Update there is nothing. I live in London also. Is there anything specific that you did? Use 3g instead of wireless for example.

This is a bit odd, you would have thought they would announce it if the update was available..

Cheers

JudithPriest, did you have to do anything to get the update?

nope - came home, connected via wifi... was about to roll my sleeves up and attempt to debrand it, as it happens, but came on here and saw people talking about the update. checked for it on my phone and hey presto!

still mucking about changing my SD card so haven't had a proper fiddle yet, but a brief scan shows some cosmetic changes to messaging, voice to text, GTalk has been enabled, yadda yadda... all the extra features have been covered elsewhere presumably.

no additional Orange rubbish, just what was there with 2.1

So do you still have Midnight Bowling Demo and Monopoly Demo installed?

What is the exact version number you got (full one)?

exact version number?

Android Version: 2.2
Software number: 2.17.61.2

that what you mean?

Uno, Tetris, Monopoly, Midnight Bowling... all present and correct unfortunately. Although... the phone did an automatic back up before installing the upgrade, so no idea if that makes a difference. Still uninstallable :(

woohoo!

the need for speed shift file i downloaded a few weeks ago, which wouldn't install, now works perfectly! looks great, too!

Great! Am in Plymouth and still awaiting confirmation of an update via settings etc. Did you need to perform a "Check now" for updates, or did it appear all by itself?

Also, did you need to change the system time on the phone to obtain the update?

Sorry, lots of questions, but at least it looks to be officially 'out there'.

Cheers!:)
