Help Update on when we will be getting 2.1...

I actually had 2.1 dd03 installed on my phone, for about a week. I recently downgraded back to 1.5 because it still needed to cook. Battery life was abysmal on it (again, I know it was beta) so I'm just hoping that Sprint gives us a quality ROM with limited bugs.

amen

Edit: Oh man! I'm on a different account! This is probably the first registration I tried and thought it didn't work. Could an administrator delete this account or something, I didn't mean to have 2!

Just got done chatting with a Customer Service Rep and he said that the update would be released this summer. No month, no day. Nothing except this summer.

I dont care when it hits but if this battery crap dont get fixed Im gonna seriously contemplate going back to a Blackberry or the Touch Pro 2

I gotta say that my 1.5 battery only seems 'rough' in low signal areas... Other than that, pretty solid... Let's hope the official 2.1 is at least as good... If not better.

I'm using 2.1 and I don't really see what's wrong with the battery. Usually by the end of the day it's in the yellow and I just plug it in before I go to bed.

That's their battery problem too. The same people that complain about not having 3 days charge on a smartphone are the ones that insist on using a task killer app and will connect their phone to a charger the instant the battery meter goes yellow.

Also the ones bothered by the 'abysmal' battery life in the original 1.5 even though you could TRY to kill it and get more than 6 hours of use from the phone, it was just in the red most of that.

For me, the difference in battery life between leaked 2.1 and 1.5 cl14 seems to occur when the phone is in a weak data signal area. Whenever a phone goes into a weak 3g signal area, it ramps up power, gets very warm and burns through the battery quickly. This is normal. With the 2.1 leak it seems to get warmer and stay in the high power warm state even after the signal improves. It doesn't do this every time, but enough to make the battery life an issue. When I stay in a strong 3g area, my battery life isn't an issue, I don't get 36 days as some here claim, but I get through the day. If I take the subway and forget to check the phone after leaving, my battery will be dead in a couple of hours. When the phone "sticks" in the warm state, I've found that only a reboot will insure that the phone returns to a cool low power state. This never happened with 1.5 and I desperately hope it will be fixed in the release. This would explain why some will claim no battery problem while others moan about 2-3 hours. If you're fortunate to spend all your time in a good signal area.....I hate you!:p

I charge my phone every night. I have with all my phones, and always will. I'd rather know that each day I have a full battery. Only phone as of right now that I won't plug in every night is my work phone, but that's just a Sanyo Katana Eclipse X and that's because I'll rarely use it.

Im pretty familiar with smartphones. Started with a ppc 6700 and have had every smartphone since. Ill give you a bit of a example for "abysmal" battery. In my rooted 1.5 zefie 14.3 kernel I can get about 18-20 hours. All background data on, sync on, gps on. So I install 2.1 and with background data off, gps off I can get maybe 12 hours if I limit to 30 minutes of calls. Now if I turn all the stuff back on so the phone runs like it should I can maybe get 6 hours. Thats TP battery life and exactly why I left that phone.

When I refer to the battery life better get fixed Im referring to 2.1. I shouldnt have to disable my phone to get it to last an 8 hour work shift.

Now to compare smartphones, my Tour would last from 7 am till midnight easily and still have battery. The TP2, Hell I could get 24 hours on that thing and then some.

Awesome, I see you've chosen to kick the "do task killers work" horse.

I should tell you though, it's dead. The topic has been debated before, and the result is:

Task killers help battery life only if you kill them along with the other persistent apps. Otherwise they're not worth it.

I just went to 2.1 from Zeffie's 8.?. First thing I noticed is that I now get a 100% charge that lasts for a half hour after taking it off the charger. But it doesn't seem to charge at the same rate. It takes longer to charge, a lot longer. And, like someone else said, the battery seems to discharge quicker. Maybe Numus should rewrite the meter code for them.

I can usually get through an 8 hour day of work no problem even with DD10 2.1. I also think that clearing the davlik cache helped a little bit with the overheating issue. (Even though it still gets pretty hot at times)

The longer I run DD03 the more stable it seems to get. I haven't had to reboot the phone in about a week, but when I first got it I had to do it once a day or so. Aside from the camera not working right (mis-frames images) and a few other minor issues, I like 2.1.

Battery lasts through a whole day, two if I don't really do anything with the phone. But live wallpapers knock that down to 4-6 hours.

As everyone on this forum has at some point I emailed sprint yesterday and managed to get a new answer

"I understand that you want to know the accurate date of launching. We do
not have any particular launching date. The latest update, we have that
the wait is almost over! The much anticipated Android 2.1 software
update is coming in early May. Please keep access our website for more

So just to reiterate: any day now!
