Help Update & Other Problems ( hope to solve other's problems also)

Hello , i bought Nexus s yesterday and i am really happy about it but ... there is always a but. I have some issues :

First of all, i really cant find any answer to this but when i bought the phone it was 2.3.1 but it didnt tell me to update and when i go to status it says its already up to date .. do i have to manualy update to 2.3.2/3 ? also from what i have read is it worth updating to 2.3.3 or it will have issues?

Secondly, i have problems with some applications, i used most clocks once and everything went fine, however when i removed them and re-used them it would find the city i am in nor any big cities.

Finally, big battery loss but i think thats everyones issue..
also i cant connect with my outlook email it might be that i am writting something wrong but..

Hello , I can tell you you have made a good choice from choosing a nexus s like me :) anyway
First of all you are 2.3.1 because it comes factory with it, the Ota will come soon or if you want it right now manually, you can't go directly to 2.3.3 you need to go by 2.3.2 and then 2.3.3 manually.
You can flash to check out if the OTA will show up by doing this : open the dialer and then : *#*#checkin#*#* or (*#*#2432546#*#*) tough

For other question I don't really understand why its going wrong??
 
I know i love nexus!! Did u update to 2.3.3? If i update and it causes problems as other people do can i reset it back to 2.3.1?

What was this supposed to do? I did it and it just said CheckIn succeeded.

also a more general question , most people have seen the video/trailer of nexus does anyone know whats the application that scans a word with camera and translates it ? (0:48-0:52 in the video)

It is supposed to flash the server to check out if there is an ota available.. and yes I am 2.3.3 and no problem here it run so good! the only thing is the screen color but it is normal because it is google that wanted this change, and I am now converted with this change so no longer a problem!! I just manualy updated it from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3.
 
Well i manually updated now to 2.3.2 and i won't take the risk of the latest one as i don't have the random reboot problem and love the colors of the screen :)
 
How do you update manually? I'm on 2.1 and have run the "checkin" but it still says up to date. Had the phone about a week but still no OTA update? :-(
 
Same here, just got a replacement phone and now I'm on 2.3.1 with no apparent upgrade to 2.3.2 or 2.3.3.

Hello again! I came up with a newproblem something times when i use theyoutube allocation and double tap for full screen after that the display won't go back to originally layout in any app. (Ginger 2.3.2)
