Update prl using QPST

Even though it shows that your phone is unknown, its ok cause mines said the same thing. Just click ok. When the "select base model" box appears you can pull down options, scroll down, and select CARD5500-1900 (or click the selection box a press "c" on your keyboard). Select ok and continue with the normal steps

@Service Programming, I hightlight the option i get and click okay
all i get is a "Online connection failure" i never see that base model option.

In the beggining he mentions how the first QPST download didn't work.
It didn't work for me neither.
Download the second QPST link he provided.
Make sure to uninstall the first QPST link download.
Proceed through the rest of the steps.

When my Esteem comes up it is UNKOWN. ok got past that....
when I startup Service Programing phone comes up as UNKOWN
Click ok and then asks for BASE NUMBER
I download QPST from the links on this post.
I am on Win7 Ultimate (under Bootcamp ona iMac).
I got the ROOT, root is fine............just took my time and got it to do the one click
Now I want to push the PRL 3025 to it (it is now @ 3019) and then I want to do the same on wife's Optimus M.
So a little info please.....

When I download these prl files on the post I get all the way to attach prl and it says that the prl is blank.

side note I can't make a new post because of spamMing found on my account???
 
I have been looking etc,etc.
ok so I got my Esteem rooted this morning on my iMac running bootcamp/win7 ultimate
then the PRL
tried and tried but after re-reading this post, and selecting the drop down box and pressing C
the PRL update went thru
Now @ 3025 here in Miami
Going to look for the 3G towers now.......I'm by FIU and others say they got it here....so we'll see
now going to look to push the 3025 to my wife's Optimus M
 
:cool:I did not post when I did get both phones updated but I did get the PRL 3025 on my Esteem.
Now I got on my Esteem
4G Metro (Green arrows)
4G Other (white arrows and really fast but also sometimes no data but talk/text works {depends on roaming agreement as to data})
3G Metro (Green Arrows)
3G Other (white arrows and fast)
Rarely goes to 1X except when on the edge of Miami-Dade county down south but still has data/talk/text.
So have yet to have the circle/slash as to No Service
Basically get coverage everywhere now on 3025 and set to MetroPCS only
On my wife's Optimus M, it's 3G all the time (when I am with her and look @ the phone). She even get's calls inside buildings where about a month ago, would get No Service and not know I called until she came outside.
So metro did good in doing this PRL and getting service better.
And I did not have to use a different build on QPST, just needed the base model and pushing C on the drop down box did the trick.

Side note:
:rolleyes:Now I would like for them to just not use Indian people to do their commercials on TV and talk so stupid {not being racist, being sarcastic}....I mean come on, this is America, not India. Use regular American people who pay those guys paychecks!

Thank you for this write-up, worked like a charm. I have a beginner's question as I just made the switch from a VZW Motorola Droid to my MPCS LG Esteem...I've only ever had 1X data connections since I got the phone a few days ago, I figured it was primarily because I'm not in a 4G hotspot on Long Island, NY (for some strange reason), however, I assumed after updating my PRL I would be able to connect to 3G towers as well given that according to MPCS coverage map I am in a "great" coverage area...am I wrong in thinking this? Will I ever see anything other than 1X!? Thanks in advance!

I had this error using QPST_2.7.323_(2008-09-19). I uninstalled it and installed QPST 2.7 build 366 to push PLR 3025 in to my phone. But after successfully installed 3025 in my Esteem I lost data connectivity 4G. It was a nightmare, several calls and soft resets from metropcs end and nothing. several *228 calls nothing, a visit to metropcs store no help. I had to uprooted my Esteem and applied a factory reset (I crossed my finger at this point) and then I recovered data connection 4G (I might say constant 4G Dade and Broward County, Florida using PLR 3019 - *228 installed). Look for GJC.

Woulda been nice if you had warned that I'd have to take my battery out to get my ESN (in order to get my SPC code) before going through all the steps, but otherwise a good tut

Had the same problem, used to update PRL in my Optimus without problems, tried to do it with my Esteem and QPST didn't work, installed build 366 and at the end gave a writting error. When cell reboot didn't have 4G, resolved with *228 going down to 3019, now 4G is back again.
 
So I just received my LG Esteem from MetroPCS about 2 days ago, it came with prl 3019. I won it from a contest on their Facebook page. Read the instructions and didn't understand why the phone was rebooting after pushing write to phone. Took me 3 times to figure out that I already had pushed the prl update(3025.prl) to my phone lol. Thanks for instructions :)
 
Hi, I am stuck on step 8. I have the LG esteem, metropcs. New about 3 days, and I keep loosing 4g, goes down to 1x never 3g. Was sent to this post.

So far... I just can't get the SPC to work. from checkensfree.com. I chose metropcs, put in my number, and get the code but it did not work. Is the SERVICE code required after hitting ##626* the same as SPC? I do have that but it seems worthless to get into those settings.

Any suggestions to get past this step? I keep loosing 4g, and it keeps going to 1g with new out of box phone.

In addition, will this void my phone in any way if i need to return in in the next week?

No it wont. They'll never know. If anything just call *228, option 5 and update your preferred roaming list and your phone will reboot and it will put you back to 3019

THANK YOU SHINYSIDE!!! That app MEID Converter was the ONLY thing that got my SPC Number on my LG Esteem / MetroPCS. I was able to get 3024 prl working!!! YEAH. And I am TOTALLY NEW to Android, 2 days young:-) In addition, i tested it out. I was able to capture 4g most of the time and am now able to use 3g when before it only went from 4g to 1x. hope this helps others as well. I can use "restart connection app" to get back to 4g as well. Thanks!!!
