Help Update Server Unavailable

MikeMBau

Newbie
Just wondering if anybody else has this issue. After clicking ok to start the available update, it tries for about a minute before saying "Error SERVER UNAVAILABLE". Typically I would think that it really is server error, but it has been saying so for the last 12 hours.

Ever think of everyone is trying to update their phones? So the server might be over tasked right now.

It has been telling me this for the last 12 hours. I did think of that, but don't you think it's unusual for A. It to happen every time I try and B. Nobody else to have the issue. I would be happy to accept this as a server issue if I could get confirmation that it isn't just me.

I have the same problem too, and I understand that everyone is trying to update their phones but come on I'm one of the unlucky ones that has that problem. I been checking since the last 12 hours too (I work graveyard shift).

Did it check for updates ok before the its launch release?

Make your phone go into 1x and try to update

It's not the checking for updates part that doesn't work. That works fine. After I hit check new, it finds the update and then gives me the option to hit OK, defer, or reject. I hit OK then the window closes and then 30 seconds later it gives me error server unavailable.

Still try it in 1x

then that tells you they are having server problems probably due to high volume of people.

My checking for updates screen just disappears after a few seconds and nothing... No server unavailable no nothing...cleared cache in the updater, talked to 4 verizon tech reps anf two from HTC and they blame each other and suggest a factory reset the only thing I havent tried. Any other ideas guys?

I kept getting the "server unavailable" error last night for about 5 tries. The last time it too almost 2 minutes before it would start downloading so you probably just have to be persistent.

Hey guys so I got it to work. First off, it's not a server issue, it's a bug. Turning 3G off and downloading over 1X (CDMA) works like a charm, minus the 2+ hour download time.

How that is done has nothing to do with the battery cover. Contrary to several statements from others on this forum, there is nothing to do with the antenna in the cover. Those contacts are there for the wireless charging, and though the default cover is not compatible with the wireless charging station, it is a well known electrical rule to never leave contacts open, so they cover them with contacts on the back door.

The only way to get CDMA 1X is to download LTE on off from the Market and turn the radios to only CDMA.

Like I said, there is a massive download time, so go hang with some friends and family. Enjoy the summer days. And for once, leave your phone behind and just let it download.

Well every time I remove my battery cover I get 1X

I got the server unavailable for 6 hours and about 10 attempts. Then it went through on 3g. Just keep trying. It will eventually download

Been trying 1X, 3G, 4G, and wifi all day. I can't get it to download. It will just pop up a window saying checking for updates and then it will disappear.

I don't know for sure how to fix your issue, but what I did fixed my issue of the server unavailable error message. I have heard that the 1X thing has fixed your issue, but if you already tried it I guess not.
