Update supposedly coming

I called into Tech support about the horrible camera picture quality. The tech's response was that it is a known issue and there is an update coming in the next couple of weeks to fix the issue. She was reading from her screen so hopefully it wasn't a BS answer to get me off the phone.

What are you currently using? 5.6.890?

If it's this 5.7.902 that was leaked from the servers, it's currently unrootable...this could cause chaos. I don't think OTA Root Keeper works even. Those who found the leak won't release it for this reason.

Just got off the phone with tech support. We were going over how GPS sucks, phone lags, etc.... and I asked about an update; he said he saw nothing in the system. Sorry.. .=T

Well, I don't know how much it'll help, but MavROM 3.0 is now built off the leaked 5.7.902.

I've been told about an upcoming multiple times by the Tech support team they have.
I have the 5.7.902 and the only reason I wont release it is because the update completely formats the /system partition.

Meaning it deletes EVERY SINGLE system app and reinstalls new versions of the same apps. This also means and confirms an above post saying the OTA rootkeepers won't work; they won't.

If you want to rely on later updated leaks for your system updates, i'd advise you guys to not install it.

In my opinion, I don't think the update will be the 5.7.902, if anything it would be the 5.7.894 update.
A question, would ANY of you install the 223.6 MB update and NOT get an Android Version upgrade? It just seems ridiculous on my part and I was disappointed to find the android version wasn't updated.

Well I was on the phone with Tech Support and they gave me late February for the update release.

Also gave me a build number: 5.5.1_84_D3VG-55

This is almost the exact same as the 5.6.890 update, though the differences have been bolded. Im beginning to think its an update still in the 5.6.xxx range. Maybe the 5.6.999 update.

I though 5.6.999 bricked the phone or something bad like that?

It does. Im rolling around the Moto update servers and i found the 5.6.999 untouched since late January on server qa2. The reason im beginning to think that is because the .999 update as existed on the servers for WEEKS.

And the barely changed build number as well.

I wouldn't be surprised to see 5.7.902 or whatever Mav3 is made from...it's unrootable with Pete's and root can't be restored.

Can we avoid updating OTA to 5.7.902 ?

If so, how ?

Will 5.7.902 OTA undo any changes I might have made to my Radio ?

If OTA 5.7.902 is installed, and root has been lost, can one still SBF back to an earlier ROM and re-root from there ?

I would assume that you can just keep denying the OTA since they can't push it involuntarily due to required battery levels. It may come with a new radio, but I'd going to guess that modding the radio again with RadioComm would still work.

There really isnt a way to "Avoid" it, you just have to keep denying it.

But all can rest easy, the 5.7.902 update IS NOW ROOTABLE!
But however you still can't FXZ flash (new name for SBF) back to 5.6.890.

For your radio changes if you accept a OTA or manual install it could undo it, you may have to do some more researching.
