Root update to 2.2

Hmm... Not sure why it came up black, but here is the info (copied and pasted). Thanks to Myascend.com!

Froyo+
2.2.1 with the following:
Deodexed
zipaligned
busybox
Everything except mms and multitouch working.
Thanks to the chinese huawei site for providing the clean rom

1 . Download the zip for your version of clockworkmod
For 2.x clockwork----> MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
For 3.x clockwork----> MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
2 . Place the zip on the root of your sd card
3 . Boot into clockworkmod and backup your current rom.
4 . Wipe data, wipe cache, and then go to advanced and wipe Dalvik.
5 . Select install zip from sd-->choose zip--> and look for the Froyo+ zip.
6 . Wait for it to finish installing then select reboot system now.
7 . Once fully booted skip all the setting up stuff and go to settings-wireless & networks-mobile networks-access point names- then press menu new.
8 . Fill in the apn info for your carrier which you can see below
For Cricket-
Name- Cricket
APN- wap.mycricket.com
Proxy- wap.mycricket.com
Port - 8080
Username- (yournumber)@mycricket.com
password- cricket
server- leave like is.
mmsc- http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms
mms proxy- leave as is
mms port- leave as is
mcc- 310
mnc- 016
authentication type- chap
apn- *

For Metro users-
Name- MetroPCS
APN- leave as is
Proxy- wap.metropcs.net
Port- 3128
Username- leave as is
Password- leave as is
Server- leave as is
MMSC- http://mms.metropc.n...28/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy- leave as is
MMS Port- leave as is
MCC- 310
MNC- 016
Authentication Type- PAP or CHAP
APN Type: *
9 press menu and then save.
10 Fnished you now have a 2.2 build with everything but mms and multitouch working. Enjoy

Questions
I got uim error what do I do?
* Flash to a working 2.1 build then flash Froyo+ over without wiping data,cache, and dalvik.
Why doesn't mms work?
* not sure working on it.
 
To run this, you need the Clockword MOD installed (there are a few guides here that explain how to do that).

From there, it's just a simple matter of saving the 2.2 download zip to your SD card and starting at step 3 (You have to power off the phone and hold the power button + volume up + call button to get into recovery mode). Cheers!
 
HELP

I have a branded, locked (Orange) HTC Desire, uptill now ive had no problems.

the other day i received the you have an android update available prompt so as i normally do i approved the download (to 2.2). I wish i hadn't now its totally wreaked my phone

It's stuck in a reboot cycle which happens every 3 minutes or so, i can;t pick up a signal, so calls and texts are a no go, wi-fi and 3G are also unable to connect. It also wont recognise that there is an SD card plugged in. and when i try to open applications an error message appears saying System process is not responding.

Any suggestions?
would having the phone de branded and unlocked cure this issue? or would i need to has 2.1 reinstalled and then re-upgrade to 2.2 again?

Yeah, I'm not sure what's up with their site - MyAscend has gone through some link/server changes which resulted in some dead ends on links (although this one works when I'm signed in, but not on my work computer when not signed in - black screen), but I did copy and paste the info from the original post on their site a few posts above here. Hope this helps. Cheers! :)
 
Please check out other thread containing update news as well. We've got to try to keep all the update talk under one thread. So it will be easier for all of us when the times comes that we get it! ^_^

Either way, There are quite a few threads going around about any update in general. The very first post on this thread was kinda generalized. Didn't really specify if they wanted a rom or the official update. Just kinda worried some people might think something is official when it isn't. Just keeping it simple. (For simple folk like mahself) LOL. ^.^

True. I wasn't sure what the 1st guy was asking, either.
 
Ok heres the thing you can't use myascend.org with IE (Internet Explorer) anymore:confused:. If you really want to view the forum do what most of us have done, download Mozilla Firefox. (MYASCEND.ORG IS DOWN ON IE TO 99% OF USERS):mad:

If we can get some more conclusive install notes would be good. Had to go to MyAscend to hook it up. Oh But how sweeeet! It is!!
