Ok, I just got a software update 3.26. Did anyone else? It deleted alot of crap, My contacts (no big deal have BA) my fav teams for sportstap and espn. The bookmarks saved in Dolphin and the settings in handscent. Anyone know what is going on? Everything is also forcing closing now! Im getting aggravated

Interesting...

I just picked up my Incredible yesterday afternoon, and it has software 3.26.605.1 preloaded. No problems yet, granted it's been less than 24 hrs...:p

My phone rebooted itself at 11:00 local time, yesterday. My current software is 3.26.605.1. I don't know what it was before. Perhaps that's what happened to my phone. I figured it was Google removing/updating something due to the apps being pulled from the Market (although I didn't have any of those apps installed) and then the fix they were going to push. But, whatever happened, nothing was removed, or deleted, from my phone.

This seems like its affecting a large amount of incredible users, happened to me too, I have to wonder what's going on.

3.26.605.1 is the November OTA. If you're just now getting it, that's kind of weird. Backup important data and do a factory reset.

There's several other threads about people having this issue

i haven't seen any other threads. mind posting one? my incredible downloaded the forced update at 10p last night and everything is wrong with it - most apps crash, market won't stay open, widgets don't work, etc.

This just happened to me. I wasn't even notified there was an update pending in the status bar before changing batteries. I fired up the new battery and noticed it was taking extra long to boot up. Sure enough I got the setup start screen and the notification that "3.26.xxx" had been installed. There was no "congratulations, nothing on your phone will work now" screen however.

So, the quick run down is that there are some apps missing and most apps that remain either don't work at all or are extremely unstable. The contacts are gone. Call history is gone. The SD card appears to be wiped except for the pictures. I called Verizon and they basically had no idea what I was talking about. So I open it up to the numerous experts on the forum with these questions:

1.) This is definitely the Nov OTA update. I hadn't paid much attention to it before but this seems extremely late. Is it possible this was some sort of malware attack disguised as an OTA?

2.) In hindsight, would rooting the phone have avoided this catastrophe? If so this is the straw that broke the camel's back.

3.) I got the Incredible upon release last year with 2.1. Will a factory reset set me back to 2.1? If so will my phone search for 2.2 similar to the way the market app works? Should I just root the phone now with the 2.2 OTA?

First post. Many thanks to anyone that responds.

YES! God bless you all! This happened to me this morning and ive been stuck at work trying to figure it out. Called tech support.....blah blah blah bring it in. My contacts were gone, Handcent reset and opens with the latest version announcement, Angry Birds not installed?, widgets all screwed up too.

so i don't think there's a work-around. i had to do a factory reset, but now it's working perfectly (even better than before the update came). factory resetting is SO much fun, why wouldn't you want to?
