Help update

I have the LG optimous from metro PC's. When I first got it I updated not knowing at that time I couldn't root the phone. I used mikes tools way to bring the phone back to 2.2. Now when I try to use LG software I get a error telling me update can't continue due to fatal error. What I need to know is can I put reppards rom that I seen posted here. And I am new to this can someone tell me how to flash after custom recovery to apply the rom. Help would be appreciated.

I had to use CDMA workshop and LGNPST to do a restore on my phone. My guess is the update program and custom recovery isn't playing nice with eachother.

Yes I lost custom recovery when I went back from 2.2.1. Thankfully I got it back. I'm running cyanogenmod 7 . This rom improved my phone drastically.
