Root Update

Okay, so here's one. Firmware. Would that stick settings? Or would I have to flash the files each time? The firmware, I mean. I assume the libs i'll have to flash repeatedly, which is fine with me.

Firmware will stick. Good thing to note is that anything flashed through bootloader will stick around until something replaces it through bootloader (ie. Radio). The patches zip file will need to be reflashed with new roms because it is simply patch currently installed system/apps and libs. If you are flashing Evo 3D roms based on 2.89 there is a good chance these patches maybe already be included in those roms but I have no way to verify that. Hopefully someone with more knowledge that I can figure out the framework odex files or maybe HTC will release an update RUU with these patches installed. FYI this bumps the ROM Ver : 1.14.652.0

Also note that an easy way to tell if the patches zip installed successfully is by using a root file explorer and navigating to system/customize/AAInfo.txt and verify that it says the following.

TaskID : 289583Project : Shooter_ICS_35_SSKU : Sprint WWE VM[652]ROM Ver : 1.14.652.0Customization Id : 363616RCMS Id : 153

If that is what you have, than the zip flashed correctly.

Is it possible that that's only true if you install the entire set of patches onto stock, but not if you install just the PMI86.Zip onto a custom rom???

Here is a flashable zip of the /system patches. This will flash with Harmonia in a customer recovery(4EXT). I have modified the updater script to allow it to flash. I removed the framework files because they are odex and Harmonia is not. This will patch the system files and libs from the OTA. Again, my standard disclaimer of you are responsible for you own action. I did a clean install of Harmonia and flashed this on top of it with no issues. This may work on other roms, but I have not and will not test. I am not sure what can be done to make the framework files deodex. That is above my pay grade. So at this point with the 2 zips I have provided you will have the full OTA minus the framework patches.

If you dl the file you will see there are some system/apps with the extension .apk.p which is a patch file. It is not the full file but a patch that adds on. I do not think the apps are a important but there are system/libs with the extension .so.p which may be quite a bit more important.

I did both updates on mob v3 s-off and then flashed the su zip. Su still doesn't work. When trying to update it says update failed.

Just discovered I have the same problem. Tried rehashing the su.zip.and am still getting the super user has closed error. In addition root checker says I no longer have root.

UPDATE: just updated my super user app from the market and seem to have root etc again.

Same here, works now. Thanks.

Where do you accept the ota on plain nonrooted (s-off) stock?

NM, was thrown off because it said something about ICS now available for your device

Here is the firmware only that is flashable via bootloader. I have removed the recovery and the hboot, so this is the radio and rcdata stuff only. I have flashed and confirmed working.

@krowley3: One question before I run this. Does the hboot you currently run matter? I don't believe it would but I'd like clarification. I'm on the eng hboot and thinking of bootloading this right now.

I flashed to the eng hboot and ran the update, reverted back to the juoponutbear 1.57.57 hboot when I was done.

Would you guys make a fool proof step for step guide?

In the event we want to update the OTA while running a Custom Rom. What are the steps?

And what is the difference between flashing from Recovery and flashing from Bootloader?

Thank you

This is true as far as the Superuser part goes, but easily fixable. I am sorry I just haven't had time to update my post. Reflashing the rom will take away the patches. If you would like to still try this, do the following. This is the exact steps I have taken and have all the patches and updated libs in place in Harmonia. I do not experience any slowness at all.

  1. Flash ROM(Harmonia)
  2. Flash OTA file that I uploaded
  3. Flash this SU Patch(http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip)

Reboot.....Profit

Thank you! Worked great.
